We have all been there…trapped on the two lane highway as one semi takes the slow lane and one takes the passing lane. It’s two semi’s side by side but the process of passing is typically uneventful or exciting to those of us waiting to fly by at the first chance we are given. It can sometimes even be a painful process where we can’t get by fast enough. Well, these trucks are surely the exception to this.
In Quebec, Canada they decided to hold semi truck drag racing. That’s right you read it correctly, Semi’s taking to a blocked off part of a city road in Quebec for heads up drag racing. (Now, for you diesel “tree huggers”, this isn’t a video you will want to watch.)
Two by two the semi’s line up and in a moments notice they are gone, racing up the road drag racing style, letting it all hang out. As they continue down the track the blaze of smoke they are leaving behind makes it hard to even see the crowd. Then as they reach the end of the track you hear the famed “jake brake” as they try to come to a controlled stop.
It’s awesome to watch these big trucks battling it out. Did we mention they are running with trailers attached. This clearly isn’t your typical drag race and certainly not with a Semi. In the past, if we have seen any semi’s running, they never have their trailers attached or anything else.
You can tell from the crowd how popular this event is and we agree that it would be something to see, especially in person.
