Stopping, is something that is pretty important, but not something that we generally think about. We love to lift our trucks so we can add large wheels and tires. We overload our trucks regularly. We add lots of power to our trucks. But how often have you upgraded your brakes?

Without delving deep into complex formulas, the equations of motion tell us is that acceleration is multiplied by the total mass plus half of the rotational mass. So, basically for every pound of rotational mass you add (i.e how much heavier are the wheels and tires) is the equivalent of adding one and a half pounds to the truck with factory wheels and tires.

A set of quality wheels with 38 inch tires can weigh 100 pounds more than the factory setup per wheel and tire. So, that extra 400 pounds is the equivalent of adding 600 pounds to your truck.
