Ford’s investment in manufacturing plants in the United States is paying off. In August 2015, Ford had their first F-650s and F-750s roll off their new line in Ohio and they have been selling like crazy. The plant was relocated from Mexico and Ford shelled out $168 million dollars to do so. The reward is that the sales of the trucks are up 59 percent from August 2015 to 2016. 2015 was already a banner year being the highest sales year since 1997 on the medium-duty Fords. They sold more in eight months than they did all of 2015.

Ford is the only manufacturer that sells classes 1 through 7. The truck offerings cover the whole gamut, as well. F-650 and 750 trucks are available in Single Cab, Super Cab, and Crew Cab variations with a straight frame and kick-up frame Pro Loader chassis options. Additionally, a new dedicated tractor model for heavy towing applications.

“We’re seeing growing interest in the new tractor from beverage and hauling fleets,” says Kevin Koester, Ford medium-duty truck, and Super Duty fleet marketing manager. “Giving our customers the choice of two exclusive powertrains, available across all body styles and designed specifically for the unique needs of the vocational truck market, has really helped drive sales of our new trucks.”

In addition to being the only manufacturer to offer all the class ranges, Ford is the only one selling a gasoline engine option. The 6.8-liter V10 offers 320 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Ford is also the only one that designs and builds its own diesel engine.  Ford’s 6.7-liter Powerstroke V8 turbo diesel offers horsepower ranges from 270 to 330 with torque numbers ranging from 675 to 725, depending on options.

The commercial trucks coming out of the Ford design and manufacturing plants are standing proudly over the competition. Dependable designs are allowing for 500,000 dynamometer test without failures and proven chassis reliability for their customers.
