The Ford 6.0-liter Power Stroke engine has an amusing reputation, but we’re not intimidated to remind you that most owners end up loving the engine over time. It just takes time figuring out the common problems, repairing the problems and then inevitably, moving forward. One of the problems that come to mind is the turbocharger.
Our friends at Alliant Power are pleased to announce the release of PurePower Technologies (PPT), remanufactured turbochargers (PN AP90000, AP90001, AP90002) for the Ford 6.0-liter Power Stroke. The PPT remanufactured turbos are assembled with brand new vane actuators, journal bearings, thrust bearings, and all of the necessary components for the installation.
Before shipment, all turbochargers will be tested on OEM equivalent balancers, to ensure the desired performance. Additionally, Alliant Power offers a 13-Month, unlimited mileage warranty with core criteria inside the shipping container.
A common misdiagnosis is a failed turbo vane actuator. Sometimes the turbo needs to be removed and cleaned, but even with further review it could still be the actuator. Alliant also offers their own turbo vane actuator (PN AP91000) along with an installation kit (PN AP63481).
Both have seemed to be a common failure, but one thing we have learned is that good diagnostics will go a long way. Be sure and get the correct diagnosis or you’ll replace the incorrect parts. If the incorrect parts are replaced, you’re back to square one with an upset engine.
