EFILive Releases 2014+ 2.8L Duramax E98 ECM Support

2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71EFILive has introduced the first PC based tunerĀ for 2014+ 2.8L Duramax (LWN) which is sure to be a game changer. Their tunes will give you huge horsepower and torque gains without turning a wrench on your Duramax diesel-powered Chevy Colorado, which is almost here in the States!

Official Release:

EFILive is pleased announce the first PC based tuner for 2014+ 2.8L Duramax (LWN).

The 2.8L Duramax using the E98 ECM is due for North American release in the coming months in vehicles such as the Colorado and Trailblazer, but has already been in use on a range of worldwide applications since 2014 including the Holden Colorado and European Opel and Vauxhall 1.6L CDTi vehicles.

Development on this ECM commenced early in 2015, specifically on the Holden Colorado and presented unique technical challenges with the changes in ECM design and functionality making it difficult to confirm support plans until in-vehicle beta testing commenced.

Like all new supported controllers, reading and flashing has been added to the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software providing solutions for both pass-thru and BBX reading and flashing. Reading the tune file from the ECM takes approx 3 minutes, while calibration flashing take just over 1 minute. Mapping has commenced on the 2014+ Holden Colorado, and EFILive invites customers to submit read files once beta software is available to ensure a wide range of vehicles are supported for our initial public release.

For the diesel tuning industry this development is a massive step forward for consumers. No longer is the only option for the 2.8L Duramax (LWN) a $1,700 ‘plug in’ fooler box that still cannot get around torque management. For existing FlashScan V2 customers with the GM Tuning option, the cost will be $125 USD for a VIN license (unless you already have a spare VIN.) Support will also be available on EFILive’s renowned remote tuning platform; AutoCal, for consumers who wish to purchase tunes from a professional tuner rather than self tune.

Beta testing is producing impressive results, as to be expected on a modern turbo Diesel. The Street Quick Performance test vehicle made 146 RWHP stock, gaining 30% to deliver 191 RWHP tuned, with flywheel torque up from 360 ft-lb stock to 420 ft-lb just with ECM programming – no engine, exhaust, intake or turbo changes – just tuning with 100% stock mechanicals and no smoke! The LWN engine is amazing to say the least. Both Manual and Automatic vehicles are supported, with the six speed automatic using the T43 controller.

Features:

  • 45 horsepower gain over factory tuning
  • 60 ft-lb of extra torque over factory tuning
  • Support for manual and automatic transmission applications
