American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is a aftermarket component and vehicle builder. Most of the double cab Brute JK Wranglers on the roads are from AEV. They also have a line of upgrades for Ram heavy duty trucks and recently launched the Prospector XL.
The Prospector XL is not a complete vehicle that can be purchased directly from AEV. The Prospector XL package is designed for customers who already own a Ram 2500 or 3500 and want some serious capability.
There are a host of goodies that come along with the package. Choose between AEV’s own Katla 17×10 wheels in either black or onyx (gunmetal gray) wrapped in 40-inch Toyo Open Country M/T Tires for dirt traction. The front bumper is a steel stamped, factory style unit with winch and multiple LED light options. Tire coverage is handled by AEV’s HighMark Fender Flares. Entry is made easier with either Mopar tube side steps or AMP Research retracting side steps.
The suspension is upgraded to the AEV DualSport system that includes a new front track bar, 3-inch lift spacers, Bilstein shocks, and all the necessary brackets from proper alignment. So the driver doesn’t have to fight the new 40-inch meats, a PSC Hydraulic Assist Steering system is also included.
AEV’s ram heat reduction hood is a standard feature. Among the options available with the package is the AEV raised air intake with ram air, splash guards, differential upgrades as well as new AEV branded differential covers. For a few extra bucks, consumers can even get a full-size tire mount system in the bed and an AEV designed tonneau cover.
Overall the Prospector XL is a force to be reckoned with. The package can be used on various Ram trim levels. Base pricing starts out at $17,354 when using a Diesel Ram Outdoorsman with the 6-foot 4-inch bed. Prices go up from there depending on what trim level the original truck is and what options are added on. For more information on the AEV Prospector XL, check out the AEV Conversion website.
