Americans love their pickups for their die-hard reliability and endless versatility, though that has done little to temper the rivalry between Ford, GM, and Chrysler. But when it comes to helping our fellow Americans out, truck drivers from every brand can put aside their loyalties for the greater good.
That’s exactly the sentiment Ram Trucks hopes to tap into with its new “Ram Nation” initiative, a not-exactly-grassroots effort (it’s not “grassroots” if it’s corporate-backed) to organize and mobilize thousands owners of Ram pickups in emergency or national disaster situations.
“Ram truck owners have a strong sense of community and have the knowhow, skillset and willingness to give back,” said Bob Hegbloom, CEO of Ram Trucks. “They often are the go-to people that others can rely on when help is needed and, for them, the most satisfying reward or glory comes from feeling the pride of accomplishment through hard work.
“Ram Nation will make it easier for our owners and dealers to come together. We’d love to see this grassroots effort grow into a movement that will help people in need across America,” Hegbloom added.
The main mission of Ram Nation is to organize a large group of people with capable vehicles that can move supplies, help clear debris, and volunteer in other meaningful ways. The initiative has already been tested in central Texas when Ram Nation deployed alongside the First Response Team of America. In addition to supplying Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks to First Response, Ram has also donated more than $300,000 to this worth cause since 2012.
