Spotted In The Shop: FASS Titanium Series Lift Pump

Something huge is brewing here at DieselArmy.com – we are gearing up to give a Cummins dually a big shot in the automotive arm, and part and parcel of that is a Pusher Intakes high mount compound turbo system. But giving this truck massive amounts of boost is only one aspect of the build. In order to make the truck generate over 600 reliable horsepower and purposefully, we also need to pay attention to the fueling side of things. That’s where FASS has stepped in; recently, the company agreed to participate in the build, and to that end, delivered a new Titanium Series lift pump.

The Titanium Series lift pump comes in four versions: 0-600 hp, 600-900 hp, 900-1200 hp, and 1,200-1,500 hp. Ours is the 600-900 hp version.

In our case, we have the 150G version of the lift pump (P/N: T D08 150G). This is one of four versions currently available for the 1998.5-2004 24-valve 5.9-liter Cummins, which is the engine we’ll be working with for the compound turbo install. This lift pump can support between 600-900 horsepower, which is right where we want it – not too much to handle, and not too little to seem imperceptible while taking the truck out for a drive.

“Having those other options is great for a whole host of customers,” said Josh Thornton, design engineer at FASS. “Anyone from drag racers to sled pullers and street trucks can use the Titanium Series.”

Associated extras include hoses, bolts, clamps, and other hardware.

One of the biggest benefits of the Titanium Series, and why we felt it was vital to our build, is its ability to separate air from diesel fuel. “When driving, using the brake and throttle, and making turns, a driver can agitate the diesel in his fuel tank,” explained Thornton. “The agitation can cause air to merge with diesel and lower the performance of the motor. Fuel economy is lost, power is lost, and lubrication is lost as well.”

The Titanium Series addresses this by using a three-micron filter (much stricter than the stock fuel filter) that lets diesel in and keeps air out. This restores the fuel to its maximum potency and makes it possible for the motor’s life to be extended, thanks to the restored lubrication from diesel fuel.

The Titanium Series uses a three-micron filter to separate air from diesel fuel on its way to the fuel rail. This prevents the injectors from overheating, restores lubrication, increases fuel economy, and increases power potential.

We look forward to seeing the build come together in the coming weeks, and FASS’s contribution will play a big part in its overall success. For more information, check out FASS’s website and Facebook page.

New to the Titanium Series are bolt-on brackets. These brackets remove the need to drill or weld in order to mount the lift pump, and simply use the factory bed bolt to mount the lift pump against the truck’s frame.
