After an incredible debut of the Ultimate Callout Challenge [1] last year, Alligator Performance [2] may be on to something. Creating an event that brought thousands of spectators and top competitors is one thing, but to have the biggest names in the diesel performance industry convoy to the same battleground for a weekend long battle is impressive.
After last year’s dominance, Lavon Miller with Firepunk Diesel [3] is still seen to be one of the favorites in this year’s competition. Last year Lavon made 2,211 horsepower and 3,309 foot-pounds of torque on the chassis dyno. He was just as impressive on the track, running a sub-nine-second pass at Rocky Mountain Raceway even with its 5,000-foot altitude.

This year, the boys from Ohio are teaming up with Drew at D&J Precision Machine [5] to make a run for history. Will they be the first team to make 3,000+ horsepower? Can they make 3,500+ lb-ft of torque?
After being a big favorite of the 2016 challenge, due to the rumored 2,000 horsepower barrier break, Industrial Injection [6]’s own Shawn Baca returns in 2017 to make his mark on the competition. Last year he placed first in the dyno competition with an unbelievable 2,476 horsepower and 3,240 lb-ft of torque.

We have already seen engine dyno footage of beyond 2,700 horsepower, could this be the year we see a 3,000 horsepower truck? What is next for Shawn Baca and Industrial Injection? Shawn is bringing his A- Game to hopefully take the crown back to Utah.
We’ve got some newcomers this year, and from what we’ve seen, these competitors shouldn’t be taken lightly. Maybe you’ve heard of a few of them? Anthony Reams with Xtreme Diesel Performance [8] will be there bringing his second-gen Dodge Ram to life on the drag strip.

Jaran Holder at Holder Down Performance [11] will make the trip to Indy, in an attempt to make a stand with his 6.0-liter Power Stroke. Chase Lunsford from Kingspeed Race & Repair [12] is one to keep an eye on with his sub-six-second 1/8th-mile Dodge and Jim Rendant with Calibrated Power Solutions [13] is bringing in a new Duramax for this year’s competition to hopefully be on podium. Co-Owner of Fleece Performance [14], Chase Fleece will also be competing in this year’s competition as a first timer as well as Ben Shadday with Done Right Diesel Performance [15].
After last year’s performances, this isn’t an event that you will want to miss. The competition is getting stronger and trucks are getting pushed to risk it all for the bragging rights and the cash. That means higher potential for catastrophic failures and serious carnage. We will see lower elapsed times, we will see the highest horsepower numbers yet, and we will see dirt flying.
