If Diesel Brothers has taught us anything, it’s that working on vehicles and having fun can easily go hand-in-hand. Led by the likes of Heavy D and Diesel Dave, every week we get to see a pair of awesome trucks get built and laugh as the guys get into their unusual hijinks.
For Episode Six, the first project comes in the form of a late-model Ford Super Duty owned by Dusty Zundel, the CEO of Black Rhino Tools. Zundel wants the truck to be almost two different things – an over-the-top build, but still practical. Heavy D agrees to the conditions and gets to plotting out the truck’s build direction. After some soul-searching out on a frozen lake, Heavy D hatches his plan: give the truck a lift, change out the bumpers, remove all traces of chrome, and black it out to the max. Curiously, Heavy D mentions something about a Swedish import – but what could it mean?
The Holy Grail, a 1997 Dodge Ram crew cab which wasn’t finished in Episode Five, is approaching the finish line with the giveaway contest coming up. The transmission and truck bed have been taken care of, but the lift kit is still up in the air. Heavy D appears with a kit that will give the truck a higher ride height by changing out the suspension, as opposed to simply using lift blocks, which he explains in the video. Ultimately, however, Heavy D hates the look that the kit gives the truck and decides to do things the Diesel Sellerz way by having his guys fabricate their own mounting locations and give the truck the upgrade it truly deserves; this is the Holy Grail, after all.
After some grilling by his mechanics, Heavy D lays out the final part of his plan for the Super Duty. The Scandinavian mystery he mentioned earlier is none other than a Hägglunds Bandvagn 206, a six-cylinder, tank-treaded vehicle that makes for a stout ally in the snows and marshes of its homeland. Heavy D explains that the Bandvagn will be the wintery workhorse that pairs with the Super Duty, in essence giving Zundel two vehicles to let him do this thing year-round.
The winner of the giveaway truck is a Kansas farmhand who gets to go on horseback through the hills of Utah. They get close to the truck, in all its shining glory, and it’s clear that the new owner is floored. From a new interior to a compound turbo 12-valve to the gleaming (and pinstriped) exterior, this Dodge Ram is a thing of beauty.
As the Super Duty and Bandvagn get ready for the unveiling, the mood is tense as Diesel Dave and Heavy D await Zundel’s reaction to his diesel-powered duo. Will he love it or will he think twice about future business with Diesel Sellerz? Zundel arrives with only the Super Duty visible, and he’s already pretty happy. But he goes wild once he sees Heavy D come over a crest in the Bandvagn, saying “That is unbelievable!”
It’s all in day’s work for Diesel Sellerz, revealing epic builds to the public and sharing the joy of diesel with the world. As long as it stays on the air, we’ll stay tuned this badass show!
