Meanwhile in Siberia…Watch a Mercedes-Benz C208 get crushed into a pancake by a gigantic “excavator.” It seems very convenient that cameras were rolling at just the right time to capture this. Banter on internet chat rooms suggests this event was either staged or very clever CGI trickery. Watch the video above and decide for yourself.
Let’s take this step by step.
First if all, it’s not really an excavator. It’s an articulated loading shovel or a wheeled loader with the biggest set of tire chains on record. Can anyone out there identify this rig?
Next, the alleged premise for this exercise is someone getting revenge on the boss by destroying his ride. You must’ve done something really rotten to have someone go this crazy. Did said boss man fail to meet payroll? Was he flirty with a guy’s wife at the company party? Did he swill all the Vodka?
Unknown, but look closer and you’ll see that this plain Mercedes coupe doesn’t seem to have any seats. Keep watching and after the huge rig is through flattening the car, the camera zooms into reveal what looks like an empty engine bay.
So if it’s real, it was a gutted junker on the way to the scrapheap and someone wanted to add a “viral” video to their resume. The logistics are admirable because it’s not every day you have access to a gigantic rig and an a expendable luxury car, so at the very least, kudos for that.
Or is it CGI? Modern PC’s have humongous computing power and who knows? A kid in his/her folks basement with a rendering/modeling program might have pulled this off, and that might be the most newsworthy part of this thing.
