WTF: This Duramax Is A Long Way From Greatness

Welcome back to Wrecked Truck Friday – WTF – as we continue to check out the recently deceased rigs out there in need of a rescue. This week, we’re checking out a 2011 GMC Sierra K2500 SLE out of Akron, Ohio [2].

Well, right off the bat, we can see that the truck used to rock a “custom” look. Still, the wheels, the white-letter-out tires, and the garish “DURAMAX” graphics on the doors and rear fenders just don’t seem right. Correct us if we’re wrong, but it all strikes us as some sort of dealer-added appearance package; the kind where another $20,000 is added to the sticker price.

But we’re overlooking the sheer amount of damage this pickup has been through, aren’t we? Yes, we are. Probably because it apparently runs and drives.

And hey, as an added bonus, the junkyard went ahead and shrink-wrapped the truck to “protect against the elements.” Isn’t that nice? They didn’t have to do that to a salvage title truck with – ack – $34,000 worth of damage.

The Sierra has about 71,000 miles on the clock, but has the time come for it to give up the ghost?

A collapsed roof, bent pillars, busted glass, broken-off mirrors, and dented fenders are what we can see just from looking. The engine bay looks alright, but appearances can be deceiving. It’s possible there are ruptured lines or wiring, or fluids where they shouldn’t be. After all, this truck did suffer a rollover, with no clarification if it landed upside down or right side up.

What do you think of this customized silver pickup? Worth a shot, or not at all? Leave a comment below.
