How do you make a truck stand out in a crowd? The old way used to be a good size lift, wheels and tires. But today, it is pretty common to see 6, 8, and 10 inch lifts and even 12 inch lifts are starting to show up more often. Wheels and tires; well, when was the last time you went to a car show? 22’s are getting to be common place and even 24’s are getting more regular on these sky high trucks.
So, when Austin Okrinsky from Extreme Offroad & Performance decided to build a new promo truck, he had a difficult task ahead of him. The goal; “to create the biggest and best show truck we have ever created for the 2013 SEMA Show,” said Jonathon Brothers, General Manager for Extreme Offroad & Performance.
He started off with a black 2012 Mega cab 4wd Ram 2500. Okrinsky yanked off the exhaust and added a full 5” aFe Power turbo back system powder coated black. Then he added a Bully Dog tuner to give the 6.7 more pep. Satisfied with how the truck was running, he moved to the interior.
The seats were redone with Roadwire leathers with an orange insert. The headliner was redone with ultra-suede as was the dash and door handles. All of the inserts in the dash were Hydrodipped by Extreme Offroad & Performance. The head unit was swapped out for a JVC KWNT810, which is a double din head unit that features a killer navigation system. The head unit sends everything to a 2500 Watt Rockford Fosgate Power series amplifier and then to the Rockford Fosgate speakers. To further add to the custom touch, the front headrests were swapped out and Mryon and Davis DVD/Video headrests were installed. To help ensure that the lights don’t go dim on those hard hitting notes, Okrinsky swapped out the batteries in favor of Optima Red top batteries.
The most eye catching feature of the whole truck is the exterior! Okrinsky installed a 15 inch Full Throttle Suspension lift front and rear paired with Full Throttle Suspension’s 2.0 remote reservoir coilovers shocks. With a lift this big, opting for the right wheel and tire package is critical. So, a set of 22 inch Fuel Offroad 2 piece Driller wheels were paired with some 40×15.5R22 Toyo Open Country M/T tires. To ensure that Okrinsky could still get into the cab of the truck, he installed a set of AMP Research PowerSteps. To make the truck look a little more aggressive, the front and rear bumper were swapped out in favor of Fab Fours Bumpers with Rigid Industries lights. The grille was replaced with a Rolling Big Power (RBP) grille and a Retrax Pro bed cover was added. The last major swap was the lighting package before he dropped it off for paint. So, Okrinsky installed a set of Plain & Simple by Design custom headlight and taillights.
From there, the truck headed over to Coachwerk by Kinsey. If the truck didn’t stand out enough, certainly the custom paint takes it over the top. When asked why crazy creepy clowns, Brothers had this to say, “The motivation behind the Clownin Paint scheme was just something crazy… so the Crazy clowns where kind of modeled after the guys personalities at the shop who worked on the truck.”
Whatever the reason, the clown paint job is stellar and extremely detailed. All of the wheels have multiple images painted into them, the whole side of the truck has scene after scene. It is certainly an eye catching paint job and it makes this custom Ram certainly a killer custom.
