In this job, we see a lot of really cool stuff. To a certain degree, we are jaded by the volumes of one off custom built vehicles. In the next few days we will be attending the SEMA Show where there will be hundreds of the best custom built show vehicles in the country assembled in one spot.
So, for us to see something and instantly get inspired is pretty rare. Sure, we like a certain aspect of this vehicle or that vehicle, but to just stop in our tracks, and start looking for a vehicle because we REALLY want to build something, just doesn’t happen very often.
This is one of those moments. We came across this insane 1997 Peterbilt 379 EXHD built by the guys at A&A Stainless Steel Plus. If you aren’t familiar with A&A Stainlesss Steel Parts, don’t worry. They deal pretty much only with over the road trucks. They are well known for building some very high end, high quality stainless parts.
In addition to building parts, every now and then, they will do a complete one off truck. When we called and talked to the owner Alex, it was mentioned that they had built one a few years ago, then they just built this one and in a few years when they forget how long of a process it was to build this truck, they will probably build another.
During our conversation the words, “one off” kept being used to describe the over the top custom that is known as DANGER.
Danger was torn completely down to the bare frame and built from the ground up. The frame has been completely boxed. The truck then received an air suspension all the way around. Custom one off wheels were designed and built just for this truck. The wrap around fenders are actually mounted to the suspension, so the tires will never hit. Disk brakes were added all the way around!
The flat top sleeper features two functional doors with power windows. The doors in the back open suicide style, but the front are gullwing doors! On the inside, there is a custom wood floor with custom seats. There is a full custom sound system.
The 550 horsepower Caterpillar engine was rebuilt and is mounted to an 18 speed transmission. Under the hood, everything is custom one off polished stainless. The attention to detail is amazing. When the guys at A&A Stainless Steel Parts were designing the exhaust, they took inspiration from a Gatling gun. If you look carefully, you will actually see multiple tubes encased in a few collars just like an actual Gatling gun. One cool aspect about it, they are actually removable!
The exterior of the truck has had a lot of love as well. The custom front bumper and grille give the truck a little bit of a menacing presence. Alex said they were trying to merge old school and new school together when they built it. So the truck was treated to a flat black paint job with the yellow accents.
Once done, they were actually contacted to be used in a music video for DJ Khaled. Alex mentioned that they have other things in the works, but nothing has been finalized.
The quality and vision that went into this project is amazing. The final product by far is one of the best custom rigs in the country. It is time to move onto other projects; so Alex has decided to part with this one off amazing truck. Here is the Ebay listing.
