Well, last year marked 100 years that the Peach and Melon Festival has been celebrated in De Leon, Texas. For almost the last 30 years, they have had sled pulling.
Every year there are more and more events that are being held and this celebration is almost a full week long now.
Tuesday, August 4th 2015 marks the start of the festival with the Queen Candidates Tea and then the selection of “Little Miss De Leon” along with the Queen of the festival.
Wednesday starts off at 11 with a 4H cake judging followed by peach desserts, melon and fruits judging. Later in the afternoon, there will be a parade along with kids tractor pulls! the night finishes off with a melon and cake auction
Thursday Jake Hooker and Justin Trevino are playing and Friday marks the start of the tractor pulls. This year as with the last few years the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pulling Association along with the Texas Truck And Tractor Pulling Association will be putting on a show side by side running down the two lane track Friday and Saturday.
Saturday, thee will be a Watermelon Crawl, multiple tournaments and contests throughout the day and the festival will end with the crowning of “Miss De Leon” 2015!
