Per The EPA, It’s Time To Act. We Need Clean Trucks Right Now.

Here at Diesel Army, when I see news come across my desk, it is up to me whether or not that news is sharable. Will you like it? Will you agree or disagree? Well, this bit of news came across my desk and I pondered on whether or not to even share, but I’m going with it. If you aren’t a regular on Natural Resources Defense Council site, you’ve probably missed one of their latest pieces. They’ve made it clear that the EPA is ready to shut it down. What specifically? Diesel.

“Dirty diesel trucks are a menace to our health. With upcoming standards, the Environmental Protection Agency has a historic opportunity to slash air pollution, protect those in environmental justice communities, and address the climate crisis. The EPA’s Clean Truck’s Plan includes exhaust standards on smog-forming nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) and improvements in the existing greenhouse gas standards to incorporate the growing availability of zero-emission vehicle technology.”

  • A menace to our health? I’m all for saving the earth and doing the right thing, but do you truly believe that diesel trucks are to blame when it comes to ALL of the pollutions in this world? That is the way they make it seem.

“These rules could not be more important. Although less than 10% of vehicles on the road, trucks pump out the majority of hazardous air pollutants and nearly 25% of the transportation sector’s greenhouse gases. This is an urgent public health crisis across the country. This is a pivotal opportunity for the Biden administration to eliminate diesel pollution from trucks—something environmental justice communities have been calling for decades. With 16 states, committing to zero-out new truck emissions by 2050, the industry moving quickly to deploy new technologies, and the lifetime costs of an electric vehicle often less than that of a diesel, the time is now to lock in the progress and ensure these dirty dinosaurs are pushed to extinction.”

  • Again, I am on board for properly functioning emissions on our trucks. Hell, any truck. Create systems that are efficient and will allow for light to heavy-duty truck users to work their trucks with fewer problems. You have to agree, a lot of issues are commonly found within said systems. Hence the reason they disappear. Also, dirty dinosaurs? C’mon.

One last quote I’d like to pull from this article. I want you guys and gals to read these and really let us know what you think. If you’re on board with it, so be it. I just want to hear your point of view to hopefully understand both sides.

“This is a matter of life and death. Cutting tailpipe emissions and moving to zero emission vehicles can eliminate the diesel fumes causing childhood asthma, emergency room visits, and loss of life. The solutions exist and we can’t wait any longer to get there.”

In the comments below, give us your opinion and where you’re from. Tell us how you feel so we can better understand your side. We’re keeping an eye on this situation and are going to continue to update this thread as more comes out. With the cost of fuel these days, it is almost as if it is being pushed out, right?
