NHRDA World Finals Day 2: The Fastest Diesels On The Planet

With the sled pulls going deep into the night on Friday night, we were one sleep away from the action at the Texas Motorplex Drag Strip. The oh-so craved points, title, and the bragging rights were finally up for grabs.

The Show-N-Shine was a packed house. Stay tuned for our Top 5 trucks!

The weather was much better than the day before and the Show-N-Shine showed, but it was unlike any other truck show. Texas has a huge calling for clean trucks. Big, little, tall, and short they were all here. Be sure and stay tuned for our Top 5 trucks from the Show-N-Shine.

Lavon Miller was runner-up in the Pro Street category (left). Also, Jason Weaver in his shorty Dodge Ram was making a statement in the Super Diesel class.

Checking out the pits, which was now packed, we could see who made the trip and who was unloaded and ready to roll coal. A pile of Super Street trucks were present, plus the fan favorites in Pro-Street. Lavon Miller and Dustin Jackson looked to square off in a points battle.

Anthony Reams, Wade Moody, Jared Ring, and Gord Cooper all made great passes today. Fortunately for Gord, he was the only victorious one of this group.

Good Cooper with Smokin’ Gun, raced his Detroit powered semi-truck in HotRod Semi as well as his old school tow rig. Mike Skinner, displayed what was left of his Ram truck. The engine block looked like two pieces of bread with the internals as the meat before it went boom.

We had trucks that were too fast, too slow, and absolutely dead on. It was a bring your A-game kind of day.

The 11.90-Index was extremely tight with qualifiers separated by only a thousandths of a second. Also, as a special treat two jet-powered dragsters from Las Vegas, Nevada came out to put on a show. The 270 miles per hour was not only loud, but it was hot.

Jarid Vollmer piloted the G&J/MBRP machine to a Pro Stock win!

Chris Buhidar, a Texas native, was looking to hold of Phillip Franklin to remain the points leader, and above all, a champion. At the end of the day, it was Franklin in his beautiful white Ram taking home the Super Street victory.

Although Buhidar didn’t take home the World Finals win, he did take over the national points championship. Phillip and Chris work together, so it was just some good old friendly fun this weekend.

Jared Jones and Matt Kubik were making some of their own clouds today!

It has been a hot, but great weekend here in Ennis, Texas and we can’t wait for the 2018 season to start. All the runner ups and underdogs this year already have their brains working on what it’s going to take to take the top spot on the podium.

If you missed it, be sure and check out our Day 1 coverage. What was your favorite part of the weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
