CP4 To CP3 Conversion: Industrial Injection’s Emissions On Fix

Let’s be honest. The CP4 high-pressure pump is less than stellar when it comes to reliability. For instance, these 2011-2016 6.6-Liter Duramax trucks have had a rough couple years with these pumps and this issue still continues. I know for a fact that there are additive remedies that can slow down a CP4 failure but at the end of the day, don’t you wish we had a CP3 conversion? You know, something that will live for a long time? Industrial Injection is here.

Industrial Injection, our friends out in Salt Lake City, Utah, deals with these trucks quite a bit. With that being said, they knew they needed something to keep these trucks on the road. The CP4’s predecessor, the CP3, has proven itself to be a dominant high-pressure pump for these trucks. Industrial took the problem, found a way to solve it, and here is the answer. The Industrial Injection CP4 to CP3 Conversion Kit.

Although they make look similar, the CP4 is by far less reliable than the CP3 your kit would come with.

The LML’s CP4 high-pressure pumps most commonly fail due to this lack of lubrication which causes internal metal parts, like the housing, pump piston, drive cam or the cam follower to rub each other and begin to shave off small metal particles which will put debris into the fuel system.

Believe it or not, we were at a local diesel repair shop here in Southeast Missouri working on an installation. I happened to notice a truck in that year range with an Industrial Injection box on the hood. Sure enough, it was getting a CP3 conversion kit. I reached out to Scott Dana, Media Director at Industrial, to confirm that this was, in fact, the emissions on CP3 kit and it was.

After talking with the local shop, this is, however, a pretty large job. Unless you're a skilled mechanic with plenty of tools, we suggest you let the professionals take care of this one.

I snagged some photos as you’ve seen of the kit and you can see everything this kit has to offer. You will receive a new Bosch CP3 high-pressure pump, hard lines to make your connections, the housing the pump will mount to, and all of the hardware necessary to make it all work on your LML. You can continue to attempt to remedy this with additives but there is a guaranteed fix that Industrial is offering right here.

If you’re wanting to keep your truck on the road and keep yourself from ruining your fuel system, this is where you need to go.
