ATTENTION: HollyRock Summer Showdown 2020 Has Been CANCELED

I think it goes without saying 2020 has been one of the wildest and most weird years we’ve ever encountered as the human race. This pandemic has really done us no good but cause chaos and confusion and in my opinion, we’re on the uphill swing. Things are looking better and we’re headed back to normality but unfortunately, it had one more bang to go.

The 2020 edition of the HollyRock Summer Showdown at Virginia Motorsports Park has been canceled. This would’ve been the second time the Outlaw Diesel Super Series invaded North Dinwiddie, Virginia, and raced down one of the country’s best track surfaces. Unfortunately, the powers above made it clear that event could in fact go on but no spectators would be allowed.

I know to some of you that means okay, we’ll still race for those big Outlaw Series winnings there will just be fewer people. See, the problem with that is, the big money purses that they guarantee are usually covered by the gate. Not only do we need the fanbase there to help cover the event purses, but it’s also important that we fill these venues up with diesel power fans to make the series sponsors happy.

They have their booths set up to talk shop with showgoers, sell products, merchandise, etc. So at the end of the day, as much as it bums me to say, we will have to wait until 2021 to try out Virginia Motorsports Park again.
