Stainless Diesel Releases 5-Blade BOSS HE351 Drop-In Turbocharger

Its been nearly a year since Stainless Diesel entered the drop in turbocharger market with the introduction of their factory replacement 5-Blade drop in HE351 VGT turbo. For 2021, they have once again upped the ante of the drop-in turbo program by bringing to market the “VGT Boss HE351 turbo”. This turbo is the natural evolution of a market that is always demanding more and more performance from their turbos while maintaining the usability of an owner’s truck for daily use.

The meat and potatoes of this turbocharger are the legendary 5-blade turbine wheel designs which have now been bored to 63-MM. These turbine wheels have proven continuously for years to be very efficient at making power, and as an added bonus, make a heavenly sound when spooled up.

Although overshadowed by the more obvious aspects of a turbo, the exhaust turbine is just as important to how a turbo performs as the compressor wheel is. The VGT Boss received attention in this area as well featuring a 67-MM 10-blade turbine wheel that is dramatically more efficient than the factory wheel.

This helps to not only outflow the factory exhaust turbine but to help keep those EGT’s in check for when you hook that trailer to your truck or make that long pull beating your buddy on a closed course race track. Speaking of EGT’s, this turbo is marketed as a direct drop-in charger for anyone looking to squeeze a little more out of his truck while still retaining stock functionality and giving him more performance, and that is exactly what this charger looks to do.

Not only does it still retain a factory exhaust brake, which is the biggest hangup most people have over the popular second-gen swap kits, but thanks to that larger exhaust housing size, EGT’s are readily kept in check for when you have to tow your buddies truck home after a long weekend.

This true drop-in charger boasts a 1-year warranty and including everything needed for install, as every VGT Boss will come out of the box with a brand new pre-programmed actuator, making installation a breeze even if you don’t have access to expensive specialty tools.

They were designed for the guy looking for the next level in drop-in chargers, whether you daily your truck or are looking to satisfy a work stock tech inspection. With a healthy 700+ horsepower capability, it has enough capability to handle pretty well anything you can throw at it. If you’re in the market because of a failing charger, or just wanting to up your truck’s game a little, the BOSS could be an option for you.
