Season Finale: Rudy’s Fall Truck Jam ’21 This Weekend October 8-9

After an entire year of chaos, the Outlaw Diesel Super Series is finally coming to a close for 2021. Out of seven total points awarding events, only four managed to happen. Two were spoiled by rain and that leaves anyone who needs points desperately with all of the pressure heading into the final weekend of diesel drag racing this weekend.

This weekend in Julian, North Carolina, your favorite diesel classes including ET, 7.70, 6.70, 5.90, Pro Street, Pro Mod, and Pro Dragster are ready to go. October 8th through the 9th, the Piedmont Dragway crew will prepare the track to the best of their abilities and make sure we can go drag racing and end this year with a bang.

Points Update

JAMO Performance E.T

Considering the field for ET is generally the largest, that calls for the most rounds. The two in points need to make sure they are on their game because an early day slip-up could bring our third place all the way to the top if he goes this distance. Like you would expect, the end-of-year activities are bringing the drama. Who will take home the crown this year?

This year, Nick Morris has made a point to be in the running this year as he leads the pack by only six points. Performing well this weekend is 100-percent critical. He will have to be one step ahead of Riddle the entire weekend or his points championship is gone. Will he be able to maintain the lead?

Thoroughbred Diesel 6.70 Index

If I’m not mistaken, Landon Miller has maintained this 6.70 points lead all year and has used two different vehicles. Either way, a contender for the class, and he’s shown that yet again with a dominant year. Nearly 150 points ahead of second place, Miller has sealed the deal. The only way he doesn’t win is if he loses the first round and they have 200 trucks in the class and one of the trailing drivers wins it all. Congratulations to Miller for the 2021 success.

Firepunk Diesel Outlaw 5.90 Index

This is and will continue to be one of the most exciting classes the Outlaw Diesel Super Series has to offer. It bridged the gap between not being fast enough for pro street but too fast for 6.70. Plain and simple, you need to be able to run the number in this class. If you can’t, you don’t make it far. David Large is holding the lead in the points, but there are at least five people behind him that have him in their scope.

I think Austin Denny and Adam Foltz are just too much out of it to bring it back for a first-place finish. However, for Keeter, Sterling, and Marcum, they are one good event away from taking the cake. These guys can go and have fun and do their best. All of the pressure is on David Large. Will he managed to hold them all off?

Hot Shot’s Secret Pro Street

Johnny Gilbert has got one of the nastiest trucks on the planet. In Pro Street trim, he can’t be stopped. If you don’t believe me, show me a truck or car at that weight that can keep up. That being said, look at the points. Gilbert has a 63 point lead over Michael Dalton and 64 point lead over class newcomer Tyler Burkhard. Anything can happen, though.

What if Gilbert suffers a breakage and can’t make it out of the first round? Not wishing that on him or anybody, but what if? If that is the case, Dalton and Burkhard are basically battling to see who can make it farther. How cool would it be to see them face off in the final, winner take all? So much is undecided. Who will take the Pro Street crown?

SunCoast Pro Mod

I would say 2021 has been the biggest year in diesel drag racing history. Parts are evolving, people are learning, and records are being smashed. The Firepunk Diesel S-10 piloted by Larson Miller buried itself into the 3-second zone this year. This was monumental and, in my opinion, put us on the drag racing map even more.

As if that wasn’t enough, Miller and the entire Firepunk Diesel team have been beating on the S-10 here in the ODSS series and are leading the points race heading into the last race of the year. With a very small lead over Ben Shadday, can Miller hold him off? Will Shadday’s new Cummins-powered Corvette dethrone them at the last second?

Industrial Injection Pro Dragster

Reigning champion Jared Jones has had it easy for the last few years. Other dragsters haven’t been ready to come out and play so he’s been playing. Well, Mattison Graves and the Hollyrock Customs crew are getting their car dialed in and they aren’t going to make it easy on him! Jared has sealed this year’s championship up but next year may be different. Can Mattison take Jones down and take home a Pro Dragster championship in ’22?
