Merry Truckmas! The Best Gifts For People With Diesel Trucks

With the gift-giving season in full swing, it is important to remember our friends with trucks. You’re probably one of them, but in case you’re searching for a someone special, we decided to break down a few of the best usable gifts for truck people this year. Without further ado, let’s dig in.

Jump Box

This is about as bad as needing a drill and tap set, but needing a jump box is critical. It seems like in years past, having jumpers in your truck was a priority. While that can still be the case, we can eliminate the support from anyone else if you just had your own jump box. I know what you’re thinking. “Those are really big and expensive!”

Technology has advanced quite a bit and they’ve managed to whittle these machines down to glove compartment-sized boxes. That being said, between $40 and $200, you can get your truck person a jump box that can at least get them going again until they can get a new battery/batteries. These do more than just get you out of a pinch. It has the ability to charge your devices too. Consider this a little power bank.

This is merely an example but you can see the size of it. Coming in all shapes and sizes, a jump pack is a great gift idea.

  • Quickly jump starts vehicles in emergencies
  • Safe smart cable/clamps -Spark-free protection against overcurrent, short-circuit, overload, overvoltage, and overcharge
  • LCD display with power button
  • Compact design for easy storage
  • 2.4A USB port – Charges USB devices, including smartphones, mp3 players, and tablets

Diesel Fuel Additive

With it being the holiday season, that means the temperatures are going to fall. As the temperatures fall, it is important to winterize your diesel truck. There are more to that that you can find here, but specifically in terms of gift-giving, a good diesel fuel additive would make for a great stocking stuffer for our diesel truck people.

For the true enthusiasts out there, this gift is appreciated. For example, Hot Shot’s Secret‘s EDT (Everyday Diesel Treatment) is a one-stop shop for getting the most out of the stops at the fueling stations. One treatment of the EDT will potentially free up power and performance in their diesel truck, and also increase fuel economy.

Fuel additive is the one thing everyone knows they need but forget to get when they’re at the store. This is why this makes a great gift this holiday season.

EDT is recommended for all diesel engines because it is an ashless concentrate and has no negative effects on engine components. EDT is meant to be an every fill-up treatment. As you approach the fueling station, know that an ounce of EDT put into the tank will treat up to 25 gallons.

  • Increases fuel lubricity
  • Increases fuel economy
  • Boosts cetane 7 points
  • Maintains fuel injectors
  • Prevents fuel system rust and corrosion

Care Care Package

It doesn’t matter whether a truck person has a brand new ride or a twenty year old one. At the end of the day, typically, they want to keep it clean or take care of it. I’ve seen trucks that are really just waiting to split into two pieces but the wheels look like they were just unboxed. Either way, my point is that everyone could use a good quality car care package.

Your essentials, car soap, a mit, wheel and tire cleaner, interior cleaner, and maybe a leather conditioner. There are so many options for this out there. For around $50, you can really help out a truck person post snow season. Give them a reason to get outside and clean that truck up. Have a budget? That is okay. There are plenty of options out there. Armor All has a kit for just over $11 and Chemical Guys have a kit for $87 that includes literally everything to start their own detail business.

Low Profile Antenna

They may not even be a huge truck person, but everyone can appreciate the cleanliness these low-pro antennas offer.

Truck people tend to like a cleaner look. They’ll find all sorts of things to change out just to make it seem better, more trendy, or cleaner. I’ve seen over the last decade that low profile antennas are a real thing. People hate the fact that the 30-inch steel antenna is out swinging around and just doesn’t fit the vibe they’re trying to emit.

You can find a low-pro antenna for virtually every vehicle out there and isn’t expensive at all. Offer your truck person a quick $25 dollar gift that makes their truck look better than before. Their rubber construction is weather resistant, only stands a few inches tall, easy, thread-on installation, and is designed for either AM or FM bands.

Portable Air Compressor

You can get the phone call and go and help your friend in need or you can say use the portable compressor I gifted you. The choice is yours.

We’ve all been there. When the tire goes flat, you’re dead in the water. Time to drag the hose out of the shop, kick the big compressor on, and start filling. Well, what about the people who are out on the road? Maybe they don’t have a shop at home, either. With a portable air compressor, they can inflate tires, regulate pressure, and even have a few built-in features included.

Entry level units are available online as well as professional series ones. From $30 to $300, you can go wild. In terms of gift-giving, though, we’ve found some $30-$40 compressors that will be perfect for throwing in the tool box. They come loaded with a bunch of great features to keep our truck people going day-to-day.

  • Inflates tires within minutes
  • programmable inflation (set the pressure and walk away)
  • PSI, kPa, BAR, KG/CM typical units of measurement
  • built-in flashlights
  • Useable on tires, air pillows, inflatable balls, canoes, pools, etc.

Fire Extinguisher

I know you’re probably thinking “what the heck?”, but hear me out. Crazy things happen. What if you’re driving right now and your truck catches on fire. What are you going to do? I don’t know the percentage, but I’m betting it’s pretty low on the number of people that have a fire extinguisher in their truck. This is why I’m adding it to the list.

A freak accident and your truck goes up in flames. You can now at least attempt to put out the blaze depending on the size. Not relatable enough for you? You’ve sunk thousands into your diesel truck modifying it praying for more tire-shredding horsepower. You stayed up all night putting it together, the next day you and the boys are out ripping it and some bang and pop created a fire.

Bet you wished you had that fire extinguisher now. For something small like a fire extinguisher, this is super cheap insurance to have behind or under your backseat. That is why this would make for a cool holiday gift for us truck people. You can get them locally or online for $10 or so.

What else would you add to your holiday truck list? Let us know in the comments below!
