DPF Cleaning Made Easy With Rislone

Since all diesel trucks coming off the assembly line have some sort of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in use, it has added a level of maintenance not seen before. We need to maintain this emissions device so it lasts a long time. Let’s face it, replacing it is expensive so let’s keep it clean and healthy. To do just that, Rislone recently announced a new easy-to-use way to make DPF cleaning easy. This new diesel additive reportedly cleans the DPF, reduces regeneration cycles, turns off a check engine light, and reportedly improves mileage.

According to Rislone, DPF Clean Diesel DPF, Exhaust & Emissions System Cleaner cleans the fuel, exhaust, and emissions systems of diesel vehicles to restore power and performance, unclog blocked DPFs, and reduce the need for frequent highway driving to accelerate regeneration. This would make it an ideal solution for diesel trucks that are driven regularly at low speeds for short durations.

DPF Cleaning

We learned the DPF cleaner is a unique formula featuring detergents and heavy-duty cleaning solvents to scrub away contaminants, soot, carbon build-up, and oily residue from the fuel injectors, combustion chambers, turbo, EGR, diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), and other components. Also, its exclusive Diesel Regen Medic+ is an active DPF regeneration accelerator and cleaning fuel catalyst that is guaranteed to clear a blocked DPF.

“Because repairing an obstructed DPF or damaged emissions system costs thousands of dollars, customers have been asking us for an affordable solution,” says Clay Parks, Vice President of development for Rislone. “DPF Clean is the most potent diesel product we’ve ever developed. Not only will it clear clogged DPFs, but regular use will also prevent excessive exhaust regeneration and help maintain optimal power, performance, and efficiency.”

That is one heck of a claim, and I asked what proof was available to back it. This is what I was told. When Rislone formulates a new product, extensive testing is conducted by multiple parties. In the case of DPF Clean, the Rislone formula incorporates a supplier’s proprietary new additive. That supplier conducted extensive real-world testing of the additive with heavy-duty truck manufacturers to demonstrate the additive works “on the road” without damaging the emissions system. This was followed by extensive third-party laboratory DPF regeneration testing in Europe (where there are more diesel vehicles). In those tests, the lab used a 2.0-liter diesel engine and compared regeneration performance with and without the additive.

For testing, the lab loaded the DPF at low temperatures until the total soot amount was 12 grams (approximately 4.5 grams soot/liter). After confirming the exact soot amount in the filter by weight, the lab increased the engine temperature by post-injection at 2,200 rpm for five minutes. It then monitored regeneration over a 60-minute span by analyzing back pressure decrease. Finally, it calculated total regeneration efficiency by weight loss of the filter due to soot burn.

Those tests found that even at the low temperature of 500 degrees Celsius (932 Fahrenheit), the DPF treated with the additive in Rislone DPF Clean had a 90-percent soot burn in just five minutes, compared to a 20-percent soot burn in an untreated DPF. Furthermore, during regeneration at 600 degrees Celsius (1,112 Fahrenheit), the DPF treated with the additive had complete soot burn within five minutes, while the untreated DPF still had only 35 percent soot burn after 10 minutes.

To use DPF Clean, it is simply poured directly into the fuel tank with no special tools required. Cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks use one bottle. Larger vehicles may require a higher dosage. The bottle is designed to work in all fuel tanks, including those with misfuelling devices.

According to Rislone, DPF Clean will clear OBD-II PID Codes P242F, P2002, and P2459. It will also turn off the check engine light and/or clean a blocked DPF, enabling the vehicle to pass emissions/smog tests. Rislone is so confident in the effectiveness of DPF Clean that it offers a money-back guarantee. Visit rislone.com/refunds for details.

According to Rislone, DPF Clean Diesel DPF, Exhaust & Emissions System Cleaner (P/N: 4744) is proven effective in all diesel and biodiesel fuels, including ULSD. It can be used in direct-injected, common rail, turbo direct-injected, and turbocharged engines. It was specifically designed for vehicles equipped with DOC catalytic converters, DPFs, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) devices, or diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) systems and will not void the manufacturer’s new vehicle warranty. Use once every 5,000 miles to keep your diesel running at its best, extend DPF life, and reduce regeneration cycles.

Like all Rislone products, DPF Clean Diesel DPF, Exhaust & Emissions System Cleaner is made in the U.S.A.
