After years of heavy track passes and endless abuse, the famous quad cab at Firepunk LLC finally hit a wall. The crew knew basic maintenance simply would not cut it anymore. They brought the legendary Cummins inside for a massive teardown to refresh the tired chassis.

Stripping The Quad Cab

The exterior showed its age with cloudy headlights and peeling firewall paint. Taking the cab off the frame gave the team a chance to clean up outdated fabrication. They chopped off an old welded driveshaft loop and swapped the aging dual fuel pumps for a single unit. Looking at the project, Lavon Miller explained: “This thing, we put it together in 2018 was the last time I had it apart.” That long gap meant complicated wiring needed sorting before fresh paint could go down.

Prepping The 1,200 HP+ Truck Frame

Getting huge engine components to fit meant modifying the factory sheet metal. The guys cut sections out of the cowl and welded custom boxes into the firewall. This trick gives mechanics room to easily pull pushrods without fighting the valve cover. Seeing the bare chassis sparked a bigger idea. Miller noted: “When I got it down this far, I started looking at it, and I’m probably not going to be happy until I just do it right.” The crew decided to sandblast the entire foundation.

Fresh Suspension And Heavy Nitrous

Upgrading the suspension became the next priority. Mechanics installed custom traction bars to prove their ultimate strength to skeptical buyers. They mixed those bars with dropping coils and a rear airbag system to dial in the perfect ride height. The engine bay also received a strategy shift. Builders swapped over to a small-bowl piston design to handle heavy amounts of nitrous. They even partnered with Exergy to develop custom injectors that keep the idle smooth for normal street driving.

The Final Drag Racing Revival

Tearing a competition machine down to bare metal gives the crew a chance to apply everything they learned over the years. Upgrading the outdated suspension completely changes how this rig handles massive power.
