Walk the perimeter of the Las Vegas Convention Center on the Monday before SEMA and you’ll find the real heroes of the week parked in the lots. They’re not on carpet. They’re not under lights. They’re crew-cab duallies with dust caked on the mud flaps, gooseneck hitches still warm, and a few thousand desert miles on the trip meter since Sunday. Every shiny thing that rolls into this building got here behind something that runs on diesel. The Diesel Army crew is here for the 2026 SEMA Show, and we’ve never been prouder of that fact.
Inside, setup day has its own soundtrack. Over the clatter of crates and the whine of impact guns, you’ll catch it now and then: that unmistakable rattle-and-whistle of a turbo diesel lighting off inside a building that probably wishes it wouldn’t. Heads turn every time. Nobody complains.

The builds are trickling in, and the variety already has us grinning. A slammed, single-cab Cummins that looks more drag strip than dealership. A Duramax on serious tires that seems built for a mountain pass and a boat ramp in the same afternoon. A Power Stroke so clean you could eat breakfast off the valve covers, if you could see past the compound turbos. Some of these trucks were finished last week. Some, if we’re being honest, are still getting finished in the aisle right now, one zip tie at a time.
That’s the beautiful part of this industry. Diesel people don’t build trucks to look at. They build them to pull, to push, to put down numbers that make the dyno operator laugh out loud, and then to drive home. SEMA is where all that work finally gets a stage, and where the next round of turbos, injectors, tuning, suspension, and towing gear gets its first handshake with the people who will actually use it.

For the next four days, we’ll be chasing the horsepower, the torque, and the stories behind them. We’ll talk to the builders, poke around the new parts, and find out what’s coming to your truck in 2027. If it makes boost, hauls weight, or blows a little smoke, we want to see it.
The doors open tomorrow. Tonight, the tow rigs rest and the show trucks get their final wipe-down. Stay tuned to Diesel Army all week. The torque has officially arrived in Las Vegas.
