Season Wraps Up For Texas Truck and Tractor Pulling Association

For the Texas Truck and Tractor Pulling Association’s (TTTPA) championship pull in San Antonio, Texas, only the top 5 in each class were invited. For Super Street Diesel, that meant Chris Ryan with Mutt, Buck Hyndman with Ready To Rumble, Vanessa Finstad with Uncommon, Shaun Braun with Bad Assett and Ritchie Shafter with Borrowed Time. Ryan and Hyndman have been battling it out all season for the title. With Hyndman’s misstep during the Sulphur Springs pull a few weeks earlier, Ryan had all but wrapped us his repeat championship. The battle for third place is also, a close one between Finstad and Braun. Either of these two could take home the third spot.

Friday night’s pull certainly made a statement as Hyndman and Finstad finished one and two. For Hyndman, he did what he could, but Ryan took home third which meant if Hyndman could put three or more places between him and Ryan, he could still take home the title,the first year out, with the new truck! So, heading into Saturday, all eyes were on the two of them to see how many places they would be apart. As fate would have it, the five pullers finished in the exact order of their season points. So, Ryan took home first, Hyndman second, Finstad third, Braun fourth and Shafer took home fifth.

In Hot Farm, it was all about putting on a good show for the crowd. The point’s race was pretty much settled. So, some of the guys were starting to look at next year and were trying different things to see what might give them a leg up next year.

When all was said and done Friday, John Link with Revvelation took home first place with Scott Struthoff in Constant Aggression just a foot behind. Clint Metting in Bull Frogg who has been on the top of the podium finished two feet behind Link and Randall Brockman in Red Warrior Express rounded out the pack. (Herman Glueck with Popeye couldn’t make it, so only the top 4 pulled.)

After getting a feel for the track Friday, Metting wouldn’t be beat as he put three feet on the closest competitor to take first and the championship. Brockman, too, got things figured out for Saturday and placed second, up from fourth the night before. Link took home third and Struthoff finished eight feet behind.
