Truck Source Diesel (TSD) Throwdown #3 Event Coverage.

A great event is measured by the vibe of the crowd. When you have an event that goes on for the better part of a day, the vibe of a crowd usually goes down as people start to wear out as the event slows down. However, this was not the case for the Throwdown #3 for Truck Source Diesel (TSD). They managed to keep the crowd entertained throughout the day with free shirts, contests and lots of action.

How good was the action, well, it isn’t a Texas dyno if someone doesn’t break something, multiple people don’t lay down over 1,000 horsepower and this was a Texas event.

TSD_ChrisChris Buhidar in his TSD 2000 F-350 powered by a 5.9L Cummins put on an exhibition pull laying down 1228 horsepower which just barely bested Randy Strey’s pull. This 2006 Dodge maxed out the dyno’s torque at 2,000 ft-lbs of torque and registered 1150 horsepower while still spinning on the dyno on this third pull. After each of his pulls Strey had more and more people sit in the back of his truck trying to keep the tires from spinning. All said and done, there were 8 guys in the back of the truck for the final pull and he still wasn’t able to keep from spinning. (See it and read more here!)

Just barely missing the 4 digit mark was William Ellington in his 2007 Dodge 5.9L. He laid down 997 horsepower in his all out pull.

One class that was extremely strong was the fuel only class. Between the top Dodge making 871 horsepower and 1474 ft-lbs of torque and third place Zalen Ellison in his 2009 Duramax laying down 828 horsepower. Right in the middle was Buck Hyndman in 2002 Duramax laying down 853 horsepower and 1424 ft-lbs of torque.

All and all it was a great turnout with lots of people in attendance as well as rolling coal! The guys at TSD were great hosts and we look forward to number 4!
