When 5,000 fans pack the grandstands at Rad Torque Raceway, it can only mean one thing: Alberta Diesel Days is in full swing. In a recent video from That Track Channel, narrator Gary Cummins was on the ground for the massive event. The weekend was a full-scale celebration of diesel performance, featuring everything from drag racing and tractor pulls to a show and shine.
Full Action in Alberta Diesel Days
The drag strip was busy all weekend with multiple classes putting on a show. In the Sportsman bracket class, Kyle Redekopp of Dark Iron Diesel battled through rounds to take the final win.
The Super Street 10.0-second index class saw a dominant performance from Chris Jervis of Crucial Diesel, whose 6.0-liter Power Stroke-swapped F-150, Blue the Budget, took the number one qualifying spot and went on to win the finals with a near-perfect 10.02-second pass.
The Big Rigs Take the Stage
The main attraction for many was the Hot Rod Semi class. These are not your average highway haulers; they are purpose-built drag racing machines. “A pair of big rigs pulling up the line right now,” Cummins said as the trucks approached.
“Check these out. I believe you are some of the fastest Semis in the world.” One of those trucks, the Full Tilt Peterbilt driven by Dave Stewart, was about to prove him right.
A New World Record Falls
During a solo qualifying pass, Dave Stewart stunned the crowd and etched his name in the history books. He blasted his triple-turbo Peterbilt down the quarter-mile in just 11.0 seconds, setting a new world record.
“11.0 a new world record. I believe that is 125 miles per hour,” Gary Cummins announced from the sidelines. Stewart wasn’t done, as he later went on to win the final round of the Hot Rod Semi class, capping off a perfect weekend.
A Celebration of Diesel Performance
From the grassroots bracket racers to the record-setting big rigs, Alberta Diesel Days had something for every enthusiast. The event really showed the incredible diversity and passion within the diesel community.
With a packed house of 5,000 fans cheering on the racers and pullers, it was a powerful display of horsepower and community spirit. As Cummins put it, seeing the massive crowd made it clear that “Alberta is a diesel nation.”
