Pick Anything: We Built The Ultimate Diesel Truck With Auto Anything

Whether you’re starting with a truck you’ve had for a couple years or you just went out and got the latest model to date, you’re looking to upgrade. It may not be huge upgrades but if you needed somewhere to go that offered it all, where can you go? AutoAnything is the answer. AutoAnything is America’s Auto and Truck Accessories SuperStore.

We want to show you how easy it is to build the truck of your dreams by using AutoAnything by going through a build list to build a truck. So, we have covered quite a bit of Dodge stuff as well as Ford’s so we’re going to build up a Chevrolet truck. Let’s say a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and the 6.6-Liter Duramax diesel engine.

Air Intake: K&N Cold Air

For starters, let’s make this truck get better mileage. How about the K&N Filters 57 Series FIPK Cold Air Intake? Through AutoAnything, this K&N intake will rid of the restrictive factory unit and free up chained down horsepower and torque. In fact, on their helpful product page, it shows the dyno sheet of this actual unit being tested and they have it listed as an average of 22.09-horsepower gain.

Let’s be honest, these factory intake systems are pretty restrictive. I mean, if you can barely get to the filter, how does air get there? Yes, they are designed to intake air as is and they do get the job done but are you getting the most out of the truck? No. Do yourself a favor, better yet, do your truck a favor and upgrade the intake system.

Exhaust- MBRP Exhaust System

We’ve got our engine intaking a ton more air and making all this extra steam. Now, let’s exhaust it better. Again, found right here on AutoAnything, we can fix our Duramax-powered Silverado right up with a nice MBRP Exhaust System. The MBRP exhaust system is a single outlet, cat-back exhaust that is constructed for reliability and performance.

The exhaust is a rugged, T409 stainless steel construction that offers a great aftermarket sound and comes with a lifetime warranty from MBRP. This wildly popular XP Series exhaust is competitively priced making this the best bang for the buck.

Tuning: Edge Juice With Attitude / CTS2 Monitor

When you’re modifying anything, especially a diesel truck, tuning is almost everything. Air intake and exhausts are an obvious must have but you really need some sort of tuning to bring it all home. With an aftermarket, custom tuner, you can optimize the performance of your diesel truck and get the absolute most power out of it in its current state.

For a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, we’re going with an Edge Juice With Attitude and CTS2 Monitor from our friends over at Edge Products. The CTS2 monitor is basically a mobile brain for your truck. By hooking this to your OBD-II port, you can read virtually all of the analytics of your trucks operating systems. Exhaust temperatures, fuel mileage, maintenance intervals, performance tests, turbo timers, and more.

You’re reading the transmission temp, the exhaust gas temperatures, and the boost pressure and want to turn the power up. Good news! The Edge Juice With Attitude comes ready to boost the performance of the truck right up. This tuner/monitor combo adds 200-lb/ft of torque and up to 100-horsepower. By now, this truck is starting to turn into an animal unlike before.

Intercooler Upgrade: Banks Techni-Cooler System

The Banks Power engineers carefully examined the factory intercooler system on these trucks and formulated a solution with premium results. For starters, the factory one has plastic end tanks. The Techni-Cooler intercooler has two durable, all-aluminum end tanks that won’t bust or crack under high boost situations.

Not only are the end tanks much stronger, they are also streamline designed for optimal airflow and air density. With a thicker core than stock, the Techni-Cooler offers a 25-percent increase in airflow. This will improve cooling for higher continuous power and lower exhaust gas temperatures. This whole package is available at a competitive price that will inevitably increase fuel mileage and engine efficiency.

Suspension Upgrades: ICON Vehicle Dynamics Lift Kit

Ultimately, we are trying to build a truck from front to back and top to bottom. We can’t stop now. So, we’re going to upgrade the suspension on the Silverado and bringing this truck up a few inches. How? How about ICON’s Stage 2 suspension system available right here on AutoAnything. This kit can and will lift this Silverado up to 2-inches with a little bit of wrenching time.

The ICON system includes one torsion key kit, one set of uni ball tubular upper control arms, two front V.S. 2.0 aluminum series smooth body shocks, and two rear shocks to match the front. With the torsion key and shock combo, this Silverado will ride better than ever and clear our wheels and tires we will be choosing next.

AutoAnything offers tires and the options are basically endless. Nitto, Toyo, Cooper, BF Goodrich, Pro Comp, and AMP Tires to name a few. We are wanting to make this an off-road capable truck but still not too much on the road so we decided to go with a set of Toyo Open Country M/T tires. They measure out to 35/12.50R18 and these big 35-inch tire will make the Silverado look great but we need something to put in them.
With the Open Country M/T’s, we can have tires with durability, off-road performance, long tread life, and an aggressive tread pattern. It’s designed to help trucks work hard on pavement, then work just as hard when roads are muddy, snowy, and rocky or when there are no roads at all. These M/T’s are a great option for someone looking for an aggressive, usable tire.
We want to set this truck off. Everyone knows that wheels are how you do it and we decided to go with Moto Metal. Moto has definitely stepped up their game on the wheels and one of their newest wheels, MO983 Dagger, looks phenomenal. The Dagger’s are offered any multiple lug patterns fitting all of our eight-lug needs and come in many different sizes from 18-inch by 9-inch up to 20-inch by 9-inch.
The Daggers offer a 00-MM offset, 5-inch backspacing, they are TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) capable and have a max load rating of 3,640-pounds. At this time, the Dagger is only available in the Gloss Black and Milled Face paint scheme but this could change in the future. Between our meaty 35-inch tires and a sweet set of black wheels from Moto Metal, our Silverado is nearly complete.
Now, I’m trying to think of one last thing to really finish off this Silverado build and one thing came to mind. A tonneau cover. A tonneau cover isn’t strictly for looks. A tonneau cover offers protection and security for your goods that you don’t want inside the cab or simply won’t fit. Say you’re needing to haul the factory wheels and tires you just took off to the shop or you’re transporting them to the new owner, they won’t fit in the cab.
This tonneau cover is going to be great. This will give your truck a strong stylish security blanket over your bed space and with that, you’re also getting an all-weather, thief-resistant construction that is nearly impenetrable when your tailgate is locked. If you’re storing goods in there that are somewhat valuable, the price of this tonneau is a small price to pay.
The cover design and prop rods allow for easy access to your bed space from anywhere in the truck and the aluminum top skin panels provide lightweight, yet durable strength. The AutoAnything SELECT cover fits flush with all of the bed rails and enhances your trucks look as well as improved fuel economy. That’s right, you could see a gain in mileage with this too.
Just like that, we have converted a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado into a head-turning, tire-frying machine with the help of AutoAnything. Their website is ridiculously simple to navigate and they make it so easy to get the parts we want at a competitive price. If you’re thinking about upgrading your truck or car, you need to check out AutoAnything right now.
