This week, our Reader’s Ride Of the Week belongs to Colton Timmons. Timmons owns an ’04 Chevrolet 2500 HD with a LB7 Duramax engine. “The Dmax was built to be a daily driver, to pull my pull my gooseneck converted camper [and] play in the mud. She gets used; isn’t just a road queen,” says Timmons.
He started with a 6” Zone Offroad Products suspension lift. This allows him to clear the 35×12.5R20 Hercules Tires Trail Diggers mounted on a set of KMC Rock Star Wheels. He, also, swapped the head lights out, added Recon tail lights, swapped out the front bumper in favor of a Ranch Hand front bumper, added Westin running boards and an 8″ Pypes stack in the bed. In addition to the changes you see, all of the lighting has been swapped for LED lights.
Under the hood, the LB7 has a S&B cold air intake, PPE’s boost valve, 40% over Industrial Injection injectors, all controlled by EFILive tuning. The transmission has a PPE stage 4 rebuild kit in it. This combination makes for a very peppy and responsive truck that Timmons uses daily.
Next on the list of mods for his LB7 is a 3” body lift and a set of 39.5 Super Swampers.
In addition to his Chevy, Timmons is also, building a 2nd gen Cummins for the mud! “She’s still a project,” Timmons says. Even so, given his dedication of seeing his Chevy through, we are sure that this mud truck will be out soon. The plan is to go with a 10” lift and run military 46s.
