SEMA 2013: Ram and Ford Trucks Breathe Better With S&B Filters

When it comes to protecting an engine, changing the oil, fuel and air filters are very important keys to longevity. So, when deciding to upgrade any of these parts it’s important that the “upgrade” protect as well as the factory filter did, if not better. With that in mind, we stopped by S&B Filters at this year’s SEMA Show to see what was new.

“We are pretty proud of our new Ram intake that utilizes the factory “Active Air System” with our swing gate,” says Craig Van Gompel from S&B Filters.

S&B Filters is in the initial phases of releasing their 2013-2014 Ram intake system for Cummins powered trucks. These new systems allow the intake to work just like the factory “Active Air System” (meaning when it’s dry, the gate will open and air can be pulled from close to the grille, but when closed, the air will be drawn from the fender area) but can, also, be permanently opened to gain more air flow. These systems are utilizing their new silicon filters instead of urethane. This means that the filters won’t crack or deteriorate over years and the silicon seals better.

In addition to the new Ram systems, they were, also, displaying a new 2011-14 Ford EcoBoost intake system. These systems will retain the factory lower box, but offer an upgraded high flowing air inlet piece to flow more air from the fender area. On top of the factory box, the systems will feature molded tubing and filter surround to keep the heat out of the intake and air flowing as smoothly as possible.

Another cool item S&B Filters were displaying was their new factory replacement filter. They are now offering a filter with what can only be described as “four mini filters” molded into it. Compared to regular flat style filters, the “four mini filters” actually flow 18% over the factory filter. This is perfect for the guys who like the factory look, but want the aftermarket performance.
