The guys from Alligator Performance are set to take their 2006 Chevy 2500 into the 9’s this year. Last year they purchased the truck that was literally straight off of the farm.
“It was originally a lifted farm truck that we found in Nebraska. We started off by removing several hundred pounds of the finest clay and corn husks from the frame,” said Jason Martinez, Marketing Manager for Alligator Performance.
Once they could actually see what they were working with, they pulled the lift kit off the truck and started swapping out the suspension parts. They opted to use Rare Parts upgraded the tie rod end and a PPE Straight center link to ensure they could keep the tires pointed in the right direction down the track.
Next, came an upgraded the brake system and followed by full 8 point roll cage. Once the chassis was ready, they moved onto the power plant. They got with the guys at Adrenaline Performance ,out of Shelly, Idaho, and had them build an engine for them. The parts list included: Carrillo Rods, Mahle pistons, SoCal Diesel race heads and cam and ARP studs. For fuel they opted to run a set of 250% over Exergy Performance injectors that are fed by a PPE Dual Fueler kit with two Industrial Injection 85% over pumps. For air, they running a Garrett GT 5541R over a GTX 4202R.
Behind the engine is a fully built ATS Extreme transmission. The transmission sends the power back to the factory rear end with a factory locker and then out to the 20×9 Maverick wheels by Fuel Off Road. They are wrapped in Mickey Thompson ET Street tires.
The truck made just over 1200 horsepower last year and ran a best of 10.4 @132mph in the quarter mile.
