Breaking: EPA Mandates Minimum Horsepower For ALL Diesel Trucks

In an unprecedented move, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a new federal regulation requiring all diesel trucks to make a minimum of 750 horsepower and 1,500 lb-ft of torque—or face immediate impoundment and mandatory performance upgrades.

Dubbed the “Diesel Performance & Safety Initiative,” this new policy aims to ensure all diesel trucks have “sufficient power to merge properly, tow responsibly, and humiliate sports cars at red lights.” Officials say the decision was made after research found that underpowered diesel trucks are more dangerous than high-horsepower ones, particularly when attempting highway merges, trailer pulls, and “totally legal” late-night drag races.

“We can no longer tolerate sluggish trucks slowing down traffic,” said EPA spokesperson Max Boost. “Effective immediately, all diesels must be able to accelerate from 0-60 in under 4.5 seconds, or they will be deemed ‘mechanically incompetent’ and subject to government-mandated performance upgrades.”

New Diesel Truck Rules and Regulations

  • All diesel trucks must now be dyno-tested annually to certify they meet the 750 HP minimum—trucks that fail will be towed directly to a performance shop for upgrades at the owner’s expense.
  • Factory-stock trucks will be declared “Unfit for Road Use” unless modified with bigger turbos, high-flow injectors, and performance tuning.
  • Quarter-mile testing replaces emissions testing—if your truck can’t run at least a 12.99-second quarter-mile, it fails inspection.
  • Any trucks caught making less than 50 PSI of boost will be fined $5,000 per offense.
  • Tow rating restrictions removed—if your truck can move it, you can tow it.

Diesel Performance Industry Reactions

The diesel performance industry is celebrating what some are calling “The Boost Boom.” Turbo manufacturers are running 24/7 production, while transmission builders are frantically reinforcing every Allison, Aisin, and 68RFE in existence to handle the new power standards.

“Honestly, this is the best thing that’s ever happened to the aftermarket,” said Jason Spool, CEO of Big Boost Industries. “Finally, we can stop pretending stock trucks are good enough.”

Truck dealerships are also scrambling to comply. Ram has announced an emergency release of the 2025 “Mega TRX”—a quad-turbo Cummins producing 1,500 hp stock—while Ford is rumored to be developing a 10.0-liter Power Stroke that drinks jet fuel for “smoother highway operation.”

What’s Next?

Government officials have hinted at more performance-based legislation, including:

  • Mandatory Compound Turbos for Heavy Towing—trucks over 10,000 lbs must run twins or triples to “ensure proper acceleration and ego satisfaction.”
  • Minimum Tire Size Laws—trucks must run at least 40-inch tires to “increase visibility and respect on the road.”
  • Elimination of Speed Limits for Diesel Owners—highway patrol officers will be trained to issue time slips instead of speeding tickets.

Senator Lou D. Tune, a longtime advocate for high-horsepower legislation, praised the new rule.

“America was built on torque,” Tune said. “And it’s about time our laws reflected that. No one should ever experience the shame of losing a stoplight race to a Tesla again.”

Just Kidding! Happy April Fools!

But be honest… you’d love to see this happen.
