Racing of all kinds helps sports grow. The more money manufacturers invest in their racing programs, the better their products become. Now, sometimes the relationship between racing and the end customer are pretty obvious and sometimes you need to take a step back.
Case in point, we are Diesel Army. A very focused magazine on diesel powered vehicles and yet we have a stadium truck video above. What gives? Well, Mickey Thompson has been involved in dirt racing for decades and here recently, they partnered up with Brian Deegan.
Deegan is a pretty well known racer with a number of wins under his belt (16-time X Games medalist and five-time Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Champion). Mickey Thompson took all that they have learned over the decades and worked with Deegan to create a tire that works extremely well in the dirt. This tire while it was born as a result of stadium truck racing, is now available to us regular guys.
Who can take advantage of the new tires? Well, any of us can use it, but the guys who’s truck doesn’t live on the street 24/7 will see the true benefit.
The tread consists of Mickey Thompson’s proven compound and a number of unique design elements: The beveled tread edge enhances self cleaning and lug integrity; special wide lateral and offset grooves channel water away to handle mud and rocky terrain; large center tread elements deliver better grip, even wear and a quieter ride; stone ejector ribs resist dirt and mud.
The shoulder features Mickey Thompson’s SideBiter pattern and unique scallops which help to direct mud and dirt away from the tread. The enhanced sidewall design includes high tensile body ply cord for increased sidewall integrity, reduced rolling resistance and heat buildup. The tire’s sidewall depicts a Deegan 38 shield along raised white or black lettering.
