eBay Find: Custom Ram 2500 Hauler

s-l1600_edited-1Most guys are satisfied with a gooseneck to haul their fifth wheel around, but then there are those who just need more! When a full class A semi-truck is a little much, and a regular dually just isn’t enough, there is the solution this owner crafted. This 2006 Ram 2500 has been stretched and re-engineered to be the ultimate crew cab pickup. Blending the aesthetics of the trucker, and hot rodder some how this dually Ram captures our attention and makes us look closer.

Fiberglass fenders nicely encase the wheels and tires.

Featuring a frame lengthened what appears to be at least four feet, this rig required some serious time, investment, and care to turn out as show truck clean as it did. With the lengthened wheel base, the rear dually axle has been pushed back, and the tires are wrapped in beautifully color-matched Talladega fiberglass fenders. The rear bumpers holds 12 round LED lights. It’s likely this truck will be mistaken for a big rig rolling down the road, so some Class A talent and know how wouldn’t be out of the question before buying.

Two 80 gallon aluminum tanks supply fuel to this diesel.

In order to extend the range of this rig, the measly stock capacity fuel tank has been replaced with two 80 gallon Alumitank units. Located on either side of the frame like an 18-wheeler, these polished aluminum tanks give some shine to this show-worthy truck. The seller reports the sending units are a little off, but who cares with that kind of capacity.

The suspension of this Ram has been extensively modified. With both axles supported by air suspension, two Zenith air compressors fill five gallon holding tanks. Supporting the rear end of this truck is a fully customized double triangulated four-link. With this kind of craftsmanship this truck borders on rot rod, or race car in the efforts the builder must have gone to affect it’s creation.

The stock 5.9 liter Cummins 24-valve straight-six still powers this 2500 Ram, but features a full seven inch exhaust exiting through dual polished stacks, and a Smarty tuner. While the interior shows the 95,000 miles on the clock, it’s not too worse for wear.

The 5.9 liter Cummins is stock other than a seven inch exhaust and Smarty Tuner.

With a little custom attention the interior could easily be brought to the level of the exterior. If the exhaust note doesn’t please you, the sound system has been upgraded to Kenwood head unit, and Rainbow Component speakers in the doors and pillars.

The driver’s compartment is clean, and neat. An assortment of gauges mounted on the A-pillar will help you monitor the condition of the engine, and curly hardwood inserts dress the dash with a touch of class. Driving this rig around town may not be the most practical use, however the rancher or other highway adventure seeker will know what to do with it.

Clearly this rig is not intended for the long haul trucker. But if you need a rig to haul your fifth wheel in style this is one way to do it!s-l1600-2_edited-1
