Whether you’re towing an equipment trailer, drag racing, sled pulling, or just daily driving, keeping all temperatures of your truck is important. Flex-A-Lite is one of the industry’s leading aftermarket fan and cooler brands that keep your truck in check. New to Flex-A-Lite, are their transmission coolers for many makes and models.
In order to shift through gears flawlessly, the transmission uses a series of gears, clutches, and valves, that are all pressurized by transmission fluid. The more you drive, the more heat is generated by the moving parts. If you do a lot of towing or drive with heavy acceleration, a lot more heat is generated which can and will cause wear and tear on parts.
The fluid that is heated up from the transmission, engine, or power steering pump flows through these coolers. The air that runs through the fins on these coolers inevitably cools the fluid, which then reroutes back to the transmission, engine, or power steering pump. This continuous loop will keep all available fluids at a safe temperature.
The new Flex-A-Lite transmission coolers provide class-leading cooling for the toughest environments, such as racing and towing. Dimpled plate and fin design improve cooling efficiency while minimizing transmission-oil pressure drop. All-aluminum construction makes the coolers lightweight, yet extremely strong and durable.
We caught up with Flex-A-Lite’s marketer, Cole Quinnell, to get his thoughts on these fans. “Excessive fluid heat is the number one cause of transmission wear and failure. Adding a $100-200 Flex-A-Lite dimpled plate transmission cooler can double or triple the life of your transmission, saving you thousands of dollars on repairs,” said Quinnell. “The new stacked-plate Flex-A-Lite transmission coolers use patented dimpled-plate technology to provide nearly twice the cooling performance of low-cost coolers.
“Adding a high-quality transmission cooler is an affordable way to extend the life your automatic transmission and potentially save you thousands of dollars on repairs,” Quinnell said. “Even if you aren’t someone who does extreme towing, these transmission coolers are still a great addition to your truck.” To find out which cooler works best for your truck, be sure and check out the Flex-A-Lite website.
