Ford Motor Company and Carhartt today announced a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the Essential Economy (hands-on jobs and skilled trades) through workforce development, community investment, and durable products that support skilled trades. The partnership was formally unveiled during Ford’s press conference at the Detroit Auto Show.

Born just one mile apart in Detroit, Ford and Carhartt share more than a hometown. For generations, American workers have relied on Carhartt workwear and Ford trucks on jobsites across the country. This new partnership formalizes a relationship that spans more than a century and reflects shared values of durability, craftsmanship, and respect for the skilled trades.

As part of the collaboration, Ford and Carhartt will introduce new co-branded merchandise and vehicles, including a 2027 Super Duty Carhartt Edition truck. Set to debut this spring and become available later in 2026, the truck is positioned as the “unofficial” truck of the Essential Economy, blending Ford truck capability with Carhartt’s workwear heritage. Additional details about the vehicle will be released in the coming months.

Workforce development is a central focus of the partnership. Ford, Ford Philanthropy, and Ford dealers continue to work with the TechForce Foundation to support Ford Auto Tech Scholars by helping cover tuition, tools, credentialing fees, and transportation costs. Building on that effort, Carhartt has committed to outfitting Ford Auto Tech Scholars with Carhartt gear, reinforcing pride, professionalism, and durability in training environments and service bays.

The companies are also investing directly in communities. Ford and Carhartt have partnered to bring ToolBank USA to Detroit, with the new location set to open in February. ToolBank provides access to tools and equipment for community revitalization projects, trade education, and disaster response. The Detroit ToolBank is expected to support thousands of volunteers annually and serve as a hands-on training resource for future tradespeople. To expand its reach across Southeast Michigan, Ford is donating an F-150 equipped with Pro Power Onboard.

In addition, Ford and Carhartt, alongside uniform provider Cintas, launched a Ford dealer technician uniform program in late 2025. The program offers durable, shop-ready workwear tailored to the demands of modern service bays, with options for managed uniform services or direct purchase.
Together, Ford and Carhartt aim to elevate perceptions of the skilled trades while providing the gear, training, and tools needed to support the people who keep the Essential Economy moving.
