Ford Ramps Up Super Duty Production For 2026

Ford is doubling down on its truck lineup in a major way. The company has just announced plans to boost F-Series production by more than 50,000 trucks in 2026. The increased F-150 and Super Duty production will add up to 1,000 new jobs to meet strong customer demand and offset production losses resulting from the fire at the Novelis aluminum plant in Oswego, New York.

Long a favorite for its diesel Power Stroke engine, the Super Duty lineup is getting extra attention as Ford expands capacity at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The company plans to add more than 100 new employees and invest $60 million to increase the line speed by one job per hour, which will mean more than 5,000 additional Super Duty trucks per year.

In Michigan, the Dearborn Truck Plant at the historic Ford Rouge Complex will add a third crew of about 1,200 employees to boost F-150 gas and hybrid production. Ford expects this move to help build over 45,000 additional F-150 trucks in 2026, ensuring dealers and customers can finally get their hands on more of the country’s best-selling vehicle.

Chief Operating Officer Kumar Galhotra said it best:

The people who keep our country running depend on America’s most popular vehicle – F-Series trucks – and we are mobilizing our team to meet that demand. As America’s leading auto producer, we will work with the UAW and our suppliers to quickly increase output at our F-Series plants in Michigan and Kentucky.

Ford’s announcement also includes new positions throughout the Rouge Complex to support the increased truck production. Examples include 90 employees at Dearborn Stamping Plant and 80 at Dearborn Diversified Manufacturing Plant.

But not every part of Ford’s truck business is expanding. The company confirmed that F-150 Lightning production remains paused at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. All hourly employees there will transfer next door to the Dearborn Truck Plant to join the new third crew. Ford’s focus is now squarely on gas/hybrid and diesel F-Series trucks—models that are more profitable and require less aluminum, a key factor after the Novelis plant fire.

For diesel truck fans, the message is clear: Ford is putting its muscle where the demand is. By ramping up Super Duty output and reinforcing its core F-Series lineup, Ford is ensuring that the trucks that keep America working—especially those diesel-powered beasts—stay front and center in 2026 and beyond.
