In a towing application, increased transmission fluid capacity is always a good thing – it gives the fluid a chance to run cooler and can extend transmission life. This new cast-aluminum pan from PML uses the stock transmission filter yet adds more capacity along with cooling fins to aid in regulating transmission fluid temperatures.

PML’s extra capacity pan for Allison transmissions works with the Allison stock filter (p/n 29542833) on all versions of the Allison transmission.
PML recently tested their aftermarket heavy duty deep sump transmission pan on various years and versions of Allison transmissions and filters. For ease of installation, the PML pan has supports cast into the pan to hold the filter in place. Although the PML pan holds more than three quarts over the stock pan, the stock filter part number 29542833 without an extension works perfectly with the PML pan.
GMC and Chevrolet 2500/3500 diesel and 8.1L V8 trucks from 2001 to present rely on the workhorse Allison transmission.
