Every year at the PRI Show, Design Engineering (DEI) manages to reveal something that makes you wonder how you built trucks without it. This year, the standout wasn’t a turbo blanket or a wrap, but a new versatile barrier called Adapt-A-Shield. We walked the booth with Eric Bond from DEI’s engineering team, who walked us through a lineup of problem-solvers that range from trackside fixes to full interior upgrades.

DEI New Products

The Ultimate Flexible Barrier

The headline act is definitely the Adapt-A-Shield. At first glance, it looks like their standard dimpled aluminum panels, but pick it up, and you realize it is a totally different animal. It is thinner, lighter, and incredibly pliable. You can fold it, crush it, flatten it out, and mold it around complex shapes without it cracking or losing its structure. Unlike many barriers that require adhesive or mechanical fasteners, the Adapt-A-Shield holds its shape so well that you can often just press-fit it into place. Bond mentioned he is already finding new spots for it on his own race car. It is forgiving enough that you can even tear it to size if you don’t have shears handy in the pits. It’s quickly becoming one of those “keep a sheet in the trailer” essentials for when a header pipe gets a little too close to a fuel line or a starter motor.

No Tools Required

DEI also introduced the LokJaw Ties, which are a massive quality-of-life upgrade for anyone who hates dealing with standard stainless steel zip ties. These feature a unique wave design that preloads tension as you cinch them down. The big advantage here is that you don’t need the special tensioning tool anymore; you just pull them tight by hand, and they clamp down harder than the old style. These will be hitting shelves in late January and are perfect for securing header wrap or tidying up wiring in high-heat zones.

Finished Interior Solutions

On the insulation front, the new Boom Mat Acoustic Felt is a smart addition. Instead of the industrial aluminum finish, this offers a clean felt surface right out of the box. It’s perfect for trunk liners, exposed interior panels in drag-and-drive cars, or side-by-sides where you want heat and sound control without needing to carpet over it. DEI also rounded out the launch with pre-cut transmission pan shields for Jeeps and engine cover kits for RVs, proving they really do have a fix for everything.
