Big Rigs go for big money these days, with even the most modest of hauling-lugging mounts costing well over $100,000 brand new. But there’s not exactly an upper limit on the costs either, and if you’ve got deep enough pockets, the price can add up quickly. Just ask Malaysia’s Sultan of Johor, a man for whom the words “excessive” and “expensive” apparently hold little meaning.
The Sultan commissioned a custom Mack Super-Liner that smashes the record of $481,000 Aussie dollars, or about $350,000 U.S. Rumor has it that this highly custom ride cost over a million bucks to build, and it’s not hard to see where all that money went.
The Sultan, being a fan of both big rigs and opulent luxury, had a full kitchen and bedroom worthy of a 5-star hostel installed behind the driver’s cockpit. The double bed converts to a couch, stone countertops sit above hand-covered counters, there are two flatscreen televisions connected to a six-camera CCTV system, and the Mack bulldog hood ornament is made completely out of gold.
Speaking of gold, there are 72,000 individual gold stitches in the embroidered chairs and bed, and the rear deck converts into a party patio with sun shades and a BBQ/chair setup. A Sony Playstation 4 is linked to a Bose sound system, and all together this unique Mack took about a year to build, and close to a million bucks if rumors are true.
It’s a truly one-of-a-kind big rig fit for a king. or in this case, a sultan. No word on what he’ll be hauling around, aside from his enormous wealth that is.
