The Most Powerful H1 Hummer: Pusher Intakes and PELA Motorsports

Chances are, if you can read this, you know what a Hummer is. The Hummer H1 is a known military-used vehicle that began in the early 1990’s created by AM General. With the demand of the market, the strictly military use only vehicle became available for civilian use which led to guys like Adam Pela and Jacob Allenbaugh create something that hasn’t been created.
Originally, the curb weight of an H1 Hummer is from 7,847 to 8,117 lbs with a towing capacity of 7,542 to 7,887 lbs and only 300 horsepower. Luckily for this machine, it’s going to be lighter, faster, and capable of so much more than the manufacturer had in mind.
Adam Pela, with PELA Motorsports and Jacob Allenbaugh, with Pusher Intakes, both worked together in building one of the wildest Hummer builds in the world. While the crew at PELA stripped down this 2001 Hummer, Pusher and Co. were hard at it configuring a 1,000 horsepower capable compound turbo system for this engine.

The powerplant in this project is a 2006 LBZ Duramax engine backed by an Allison 1000 transmission equipped with an XHD243 transfer case. The engine is a fully balanced and built rotating assembly with Carrillo connecting rods, Mahle pistons, and ported cylinder heads. The entire engine is plumbed with an all-new fueling system which includes Exergy Performance twin CP3 injection pumps and 100-percent over injectors.
With an engine capable of so much, and the injectors to emit this power, both parties knew that a good size set of turbos will be the biggest factor in driveability. With that being said, Allenbaugh designed a custom compound system that consists of a modified VGT (variable geometry turbo) and an S480 atmospheric turbo. These turbos force air through a huge custom fabricated 3-inch air-to-air Intercooler with radiused tanks for maximum flow.

PELA redesigned the suspension, drivetrain, and braking system which include their King coil over shocks, and their Monster Brake kit with 16-inch rotors and six-piston Wilwood brake calipers. With this amount of power on something that will more than likely weigh a few tons, the H1 uses the PELA Motorsports custom sheet metal housing with 9-inch differentials and their new prototype 35-spline 4140 hardened one-piece shafts to hold the power and torque.
There are many more custom features on this machine, but with over 1000 horsepower and a drivetrain and suspension from hell, this H1 should prove to be the worlds fastest and most powerful H1.
