Ultimate Callout Challenge 2018: Drivers 15 and 16 Announced

#15 Jesse Warren: Warren’s Diesel Injection

Competing with a 6.0-liter Power Stroke engine under the hood may seem like a disadvantage, but Jesse Warren and his Warren Diesel Injection team competes at the highest level taking on everyone with the most powerful 6.0-liter Power Stroke on the planet. Warren started diesel drag racing and sled pulling in 2009, but wanted to play with the big boys and stepped up to the Ultimate Callout Challenge for 2016 and 2017.

Warren’s Crew Cab 2006 Ford F-350 is powered by a filled 6.0-liter block that houses a factory crank swinging a set of Wagler Competition Products billet rods and custom Diamond Pistons through the cylinder bores. While building the engine the WDI crew custom ported a set of 6.0-liter cylinder heads to cap off the Power Stroke engine then added a set of 9mm 760cc injectors along with a custom high-pressure oil system to deliver plenty of fuel to the engine.

They also custom built a compound turbo setup with a Bullseye NLX 475 and Wimmer 4.4 HX82 to give the engine enough air to make tons of power. The engine has delivered over 1,600 HP on fuel only and propelled the truck to the best pass of 10.01 seconds at 144 mph in the 1/4-mile with the full-bodied 7,600-pound truck. The potent 6.0-liter engine is backed by a Firepunk-built 48RE Dodge transmission with a CO2 actuated ratchet shifter.

The Warren Diesel Injection crew consists of guys from WDI as well as other shops that specialize in 6.0-liter Power Stroke performance. They banded together to push the performance of the 6.0-liter to help counter the bad rep that the engine has developed over the years.

The WDI team is backed of course by the Warren Diesel Injection shop and has also received support and sponsorship from Colt Cams, Diamond Pistons, Firepunk Diesel, Vibrant Performance, Wagler Competition Products, and Wimmer Fuel Injection to put together and compete with one of the strongest Ford’s on the planet.

With the new and improved setup that Warren is planning to debut at the 2018 Ultimate Callout Challenge, the team hopes to break the 2,000 HP barrier on the dyno while finishing as the top truck, not just the top Power Stroke. We can hardly wait to see what their new setup entails and are certainly looking forward to seeing a 6.0-liter break into the 2,000 horsepower realm.

#16 Wade Minter: Truck Source Diesel Team

A 2006 Chevrolet 3500 cab and chassis truck is probably not the platform that most diesel performance enthusiasts would start with, but that is what Wade Minter and his Team Trippplemax crew have used as their race truck that they turned into an Ultimate Callout Challenge competitor for the 2017 event.

Minter is a welder by trade and bought the Dually new in 2006 and used it as a shop truck with a mobile welding setup until 2010 when he decided to go diesel drag racing with it. He turned to Chris Buhidar at Truck Source Diesel to transform the work truck into a potent diesel drag racing machine.

When the Truck Source Diesel team went to work converting the truck from a mobile welding platform to a racer they installed a lot of fiberglass panels to reduce the weight on the rig. Buhidar and his team installed a set of fiberglass bedsides on the truck with fabricated structure underneath to hold everything in place as well as the hood, front fenders, and even doors.

The lightweight and big Duramax power package paid off with Minter posting a 9.796-second pass down the Indy 1320 to take 6th in the drag race portion of his rookie UCC competition. The truck, as the name implies, features a triple turbo, compound set up on the bored and stroked 7.1-liter Duramax diesel engine under the hood.

The turbos come from Chris Beardsley at Engineered and are based on BorgWarner S480s to deliver plenty of air into the oversized Duramax engine. Fuel delivery is handled by a set of 450-percent over S&S Diesel Motorsport injectors that are fed a steady high-pressure fuel thanks to a pair of 12mm stroker CP3 pumps.

Guy Tripp at SoCal Diesel built the Duramax engine using all the latest and greatest tricks from his extensive tool bag to deliver big power from the Duramax package. The potent Duramax engine is backed by a Dodge 48RE transmission built by Goerend Transmission since it shifts faster than an Allison to perform better on the dragstrip.

To tackle the sled pull portion of the UCC Minter and his team swapped the slicks out for aggressive mud tires on all four corners with duals in the rear to claw at the dirt and drag the sled down the track. With single digit finishes in each round of UCC competition, Minter finished 3rd overall in his rookie season. Be sure and get your tickets to find out how it all unfolds at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana!
