There are people who say that they go to racing events to see the wrecks. Well, we’re not subscribers to that notion, but we sure to love a good battle between competitors. There is not much more exciting than watching two drivers going head to head in a titanic struggle to beat the other to the finish line.
When it comes to diesel truck racing, there are many different forms of competition, but two are most popular. There is diesel truck drag racing. That is a classic fight for the lights that we all know and love. Two drivers sit side by side in front of the Christmas tree, with tires warmed up, one foot on the brake pedal, the other poised to smash the accelerator pedal as hard and fast as possible into the floorboard. There is also a great potential at diesel truck drag races for carnage, the litter of broken bits that can accompany a competition that is so tough on mechanical parts.
There are also diesel truck pulls. A truck pull competition may just be the toughest sort of racing you can put your diesel truck through. Although you are not lined up nose to nose with another driver like in drag racing, you are nonetheless trying to beat the other guy. As a matter of fact, you are trying to beat ALL the other drivers. The difference is that the pulling sled gradually adds more stress (weight) to your truck and its components as you pull it farther down the dirt track, creating a greater opportunity for carnage. The video above is just such an example of the torture test the sport of truck pulling can be. What’s your favorite diesel truck motorsport?
