I don’t know any truck owner that doesn’t want to add a few upgrades to their rig. Whether your planned upgrades have to do with maintenance, performance, or looks, we all have aspirations of building a cooler-than-stock truck. While perusing the KT Performance website looking for upgrades for project WorkHorse, I came across the Diamond T Enterprises torque converter section.
While some might question why a new truck would need a new torque converter, I have my reasons. But since you asked, the benefits would be better converter lock up, less heat, and less slippage. Since I do a lot of towing, that sounds like a great upgrade.
Anyway, the diamond T line has been around for many years, but I knew very little about the products and I wanted to have a few questions answered so I reached out. My first question was direct and to the point, “why should I or anyone buy a Diamond T converter”? The reply I got from Kenny Thompson of KT Performance was just as succinct, “our quality and the fact we offer a lifetime warranty.”
That said, although I was looking at Ram products, I learned Diamond T offers products for not only my Ram, but also Power Stroke and Duramax owners. It doesn’t matter if your truck is completely stock or juiced up to deliver more than 1,000-horsepower, Diamond T has a torque converter for everyone’s needs.
Diamond T converters are built right here in the United States using only the highest-quality materials and as stated, are backed with a lifetime, non-transferable warranty for defects and workmanship under normal use. But why would anyone consider upgrading to a Diamond T converter? I’ll tell you why. You’re going to experience a few different things like improved acceleration, increase pulling power, and maximization of your truck’s efficiency.
According to Thompson, “A stronger converter, like our Diamond T, will provide better transfer of the engine’s power to the transmission. The torque converter is the link between the engine and drivetrain. So, for these guys that are either adding power to the engine or pulling heavy trailers, it’s going to be important to have something that can take on the load.”
During assembly, each part is thoroughly inspected, and Diamond T will go the extra mile to make sure each converter shipped meets strict quality standards. “Many other companies do not measure the thickness of the housing and when they machine the surface, it makes the metal too thin and leads to early failure,” said Chris Searle, a Diamond T representative. “Each torque converter is precision balanced with a computerized balancer and only the best clutch materials are used.”
Finally, Diamond T torque converters are filled with transmission fluid and tested after assembly and the fluid is left in the converter to help prevent rust from developing on internal components leading to early failure in case it is exposed to any humidity before installation.
Kenny finished by saying, “if you’re looking for a converter, why not go with an American-made part that is built to the highest standards and backed with a lifetime warranty against defects.” Sounds like great advice.
When you’re ready to upgrade the converter in your truck, Whether your truck is older or newer, might I suggest you check out Diamond T converters. Your next upgrade could be one of your most beneficial ones.
