You have a good job, right? Just checking. In case you didn’t sense it already, it’s going to take an enormous suitcase full of moolah to buy that 2025 Ford Super Duty of your dreams—a mere single-rear-wheel F-250, that is. Welcome to 2025, where prices leave you breathless.
You can get into a base two-wheel-drive Crew Cab short-bed F-250 XL with the 6.8-liter gasser for under $50,000. To be honest, there’s something extremely rad about 17-inch steelies. This truck is super fine—and very rare and quite noticeable—but it’s probably not the truck of your dreams. To get there, we’re going to double the budget. In the end, we’ll let you decide if we’ve “doubled” the truck.
If we jump past the XL, XLT, Lariat, and King Ranch trims, we’ll land on the top-end Platinum, which starts at $77,865. The Platinum trim comes with an Agate Black grille and tailgate applique (new for Platinum), body-color handles, really likable black 20-inch wheels, and a Black Onyx/Platinum Blue accent interior (also new for Platinum). Let’s add one of the new Super Duty colors for 2025—Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat ($495) or Avalanche. Opting for the 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke tacks on $12,995, but that’s a non-negotiable upgrade. Packing 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque in a factory diesel truck is a testament to how far diesel engine technology has come in the last few years.
The Platinum is the pinnacle of good-looking, tech- and feature-packed Super Duty trucks, but there’s a problem. Ford introduced a Platinum Plus Package for 2025, which we need to add. The $6,500 package includes: satin finish/chrome insert grille; satin chrome door handles and tailgate applique; different 20-inch wheels; Smoked Truffle interior with lots of leather, suede, and wood inserts; 2kW Pro Power Onboard; six upfitter switches; twin-panel power moonroof, and the Platinum Plus Experience. Let’s top it off with the Tremor Off-Road Package ($4,375) for some extra off-road prowess: 35-inch tires over 18-inch wheels; rear electronic locking differential; front limited slip differential; shocks and front springs; running boards; skid plates; Rock Crawl and Trail Control modes; and that fantastic Tremor bed decal. Side note: According to Ford, all tow hooks are black for 2025.
We could keep going with some a la carte accessories, but we don’t need to. You get the point: It’s increasingly easy to configure a six-figure Power Stroke hauler. A $77,865 Platinum with $24,365 in options, plus $1,995 (destination charge) results in a $104,225 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty. If you put ten grand down, that’s $1,600 per month for the next six years. That’s a mortgage.
Do you go all-in? Do you go half-in for a base trim? Is a decked-out top trim worth double the base trim? Do you do what it takes to make Ol Bessy go the distance? Forget the whole diesel thing and buy a Raptor R?
