We all know that even a massive Ford F-250 Super Duty has its breaking point when you pile on the weight. Slightly Modified found himself in a sketchy situation with his 8-inch lifted Super Duty squatting hard under a slide-in camper and a loaded car hauler. The rear hitch was practically dragging on the asphalt, and the steering felt dangerously light. He needed a fix that avoided the headache of air lines and compressors, so he turned to a heavy-duty RoadActive Suspension (RAS) kit for a quick installation to get the rig level again.

The Heavy Haul Struggle
This Ford F-250 Super Duty is definitely not a pavement princess since it carries a fully loaded camper with water and gear while dragging an enclosed trailer. That heavy combination wrecked the towing geometry despite his best efforts with a weight distribution hitch. The leverage and tongue weight were winning the battle against the leaf springs. He needed mechanical support to stop the squat and restore confidence on the highway without replacing the entire suspension stack or complicating the setup with air tanks.

Completing The RAS Installation
The actual work was surprisingly straightforward and much faster than drilling into the frame for airbags. The most critical step involved jacking up the chassis to let the rear axle hang completely free, taking all the weight off the leaf springs. The heavy-duty unit simply hooks over the rear of the leaf pack and bolts to the front side. Adjusting the system only required a wrench and an Allen key to tighten the coil spring rod until the included shim fit snugly between the coils.

The Road Test Results
The tape measure confirmed the win immediately as the rear ride height climbed by 3/4 inch to level the stance. That height increase gave the hitch over an inch of extra ground clearance for steep driveways while the front end dropped slightly, proving that weight had successfully transferred back to the steering axle. A 100-mile test tow sealed the deal because the truck felt planted and stable. The active tension kept the rear axle composed and stopped the floating sensation over bumps.

A Stable Towing Solution
This upgrade proved to be the perfect middle ground between stock suspension and complex air systems. It solved the geometry issues without ruining the ride quality when the truck is empty. The quick RAS installation transformed the driving experience and made the massive F-250 safe to tow heavy loads again.
