This Cummins-Powered Vintage Crew Cab Power Wagon Hides A Modern Ram Longhorn Interior

Desert Power Wagons has built its reputation on taking one of America’s most recognizable vintage truck shapes and rebuilding it for modern use. The company’s latest creation might be one of its most compelling yet: a Jupiter Red four-door Crew Cab with classic Power Wagon presence, a High Output Cummins under the hood, and a modern Ram HD luxury-truck interior.

Completed in April 2026 after more than 1,500 hours of craftsmanship, this build started with a modern 2025 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn Crew Cab 4×4. From there, Desert Power Wagons transformed it into a one-of-one four-door vintage Power Wagon restomod with modern diesel power and current technology.

Jupiter Red And 40s

The body starts with a Tisdale Coachworks crew cab chassis featuring rear suicide doors. First, these vintage Power Wagons never came from the factory with four doors. Second, no modern full-size truck comes from the factory with rear suicide doors.

Mercedes-Benz Jupiter Red paint adds dazzling vibrancy, while black badges keep it thoroughly contemporary. The red paint highlights the truck’s classic body lines, and the black accents and fenders add just enough contrast. It’s a sharp two-tone combination.

That stance comes from Gun Black 20-inch Black Rhino Armory wheels wrapped in 40×14.50R20 Mickey Thompson Baja Legend MTZ tires. Up front, a 12,000-pound WARN winch adds recovery capability, while Amp Research XL power side steps make climbing into the tall cabin far more manageable. Heavy-duty Magneti Marelli shocks with KONI Frequency Selective Damping valving help balance ride comfort with control over rough terrain.

High Output Cummins Power

Surprise! This thing’s got a modern Cummins. This Desert Power Wagon is powered by a High Output 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel rated at 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. That is a massive leap from the original Power Wagon formula.

The Cummins is paired with a TorqueFlite 8HP75-LCV eight-speed shift-by-wire automatic transmission. The drivetrain also includes modern systems such as traction control, hill start assist, and hill descent control, helping the truck feel far more composed and usable than a vintage 4×4 ever could. A BorgWarner BW 44-48 electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case adds modern four-wheel-drive convenience.

The Best Part Might Be The Interior

As impressive as the exterior and engine compartment are, the cabin may be even more surprising. Open the doors, and you are not greeted by a dressed-up vintage interior or a few modern parts tucked into an old dashboard. Desert Power Wagons integrated the entire modern Ram Limited Longhorn interior into the wider, longer custom cabin. That means this classic-looking Power Wagon has the comfort, layout, and technology of a 2025 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn Crew Cab 4×4.

The cabin features distressed Pinecone leather, heated and ventilated power front bucket seats, and a heated 60/40 split-folding rear bench with a fold-down armrest. The leather-trimmed dashboard and Alcantara headliner complete the transformation.

As you may have guessed by now, the technology is just as modern. A Uconnect 5 system with a 14.4-inch touchscreen brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into the cabin, while a ParkView rear backup camera and 360-degree surround-view camera system make the truck easier to manage despite its size. It also includes a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable pedals, ambient interior lighting, and full LED exterior lighting. Tunes come courtesy of a Focal premium surround-sound system.

The contrast is what makes the build so cool. From the outside, it has the presence of a vintage Power Wagon. From the driver’s seat, it feels like a current Ram Limited Longhorn with leather, cameras, touchscreen tech, premium audio, and climate-controlled comfort. We want it so badly.

A Diesel-Powered Classic Without The Vintage Compromises

This build checks a lot of boxes. It has the unmistakable look of a classic Power Wagon, the torque of a High Output Cummins, the presence of a trail-ready custom on 40s, and the comfort of a modern Ram Longhorn interior.

Many classic trucks look great but still require the driver to accept old-truck noise, old-truck comfort, and old-truck limitations. This one does not ask for those trade-offs. It keeps the shape, attitude, and history people love, then adds modern heavy-duty Ram diesel power and a cabin that feels ready for long road trips, mild off-roading, daily driving, or a night out downtown.

At $424,950, this 2026 Desert Power Wagons four-door Crew Cab might be the most expensive Ram Longhorn on planet earth. When we win the lottery, we’re definitely putting this in our driveway.
