For years, diesel enthusiasts have been begging Ram for a Cummins Power Wagon. For 2027, Ram has responded with the introduction of a 2027 Ram Power Wagon diesel variant. Naturally, it’s powered by the beloved upgraded 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo diesel, fundamentally changing what this truck can do. With 430 horsepower and a best-in-class base diesel torque rating of 1,075 pound-feet, this diesel Power Wagon combines durable off-road capability with long-range diesel performance.

What makes the Power Wagon special has always been its off-road hardware, and none of that is sacrificed with the diesel—except for the front winch, which is indeed a bummer. The truck retains solid front and rear axles with electronic-locking differentials, a class-exclusive disconnecting front sway bar, Bilstein shocks tuned specifically for the Power Wagon, and extensive underbody protection that shields the fuel tank, DEF tank, and transfer case. A five-link coil rear suspension, also exclusive to Ram in the segment, continues to separate the Power Wagon from leaf-sprung competitors by delivering improved articulation and ride quality on rough terrain.

The Cummins turbodiesel is paired with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission and a 3.42 rear axle ratio. This combination is designed to fully exploit the diesel’s torque while balancing towing capability, acceleration, and highway efficiency. Lower gears provide confident low-speed control and pulling power, while the upper gears reduce engine speed and noise during long-distance travel. A standard 31-gallon fuel tank contributes to an estimated driving range of roughly 600 miles, making this Power Wagon particularly appealing for overlanding and remote travel.

Configuration-wise, the 2027 Ram Power Wagon diesel is offered exclusively as a 4×4 Crew Cab with the 6-foot, 4-inch bed. Ground clearance measures 13.2 inches, with approach and departure angles of 26.1 and 26.0 degrees, respectively. Standard 20-inch wheels are wrapped in 34-inch all-terrain tires, and Mopar rock rails come factory-installed to protect the cab when the trail gets tight.

Inside, the Cummins Power Wagon diesel brings the same premium interior found across the Ram Heavy Duty lineup. A 12.0-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen is standard (an optional 14.5-inch display is available), along with premium audio systems and advanced towing and off-road information pages. Despite its hardcore mission, the cabin prioritizes comfort, technology, and usability for both daily driving and long expeditions.

For the first time, the Power Wagon can also be equipped with fifth-wheel and gooseneck preparation, along with available automatic-leveling rear air suspension. These additions enhance the truck’s towing and hauling capabilities without compromising its off-road focus. Starting at $88,470 and arriving in the second half of 2026, the Cummins Power Wagon is exactly the truck off-road diesel fans have been waiting for. We can’t wait to see how overlanders and off-roaders prep them for adventures.
