This won’t take long. Due to various scandals, emissions requirements, and waning demand, the diesel market has dwindled during the past decade, leaving just a handful of new diesel vehicles you can still buy in 2025 from five manufacturers—Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Ram, and Mercedes-Benz. Furthermore, they’re all trucks (mostly HDs), SUVs, and vans. As crazy as it sounds, there are no new diesel passenger vehicles for sale in the United States anymore. Without further delay, here are the diesel-powered 2025 trucks, SUVs, and vans.
2025 Ford Super Duty
You can get a gas-powered Super Duty, but why would you want to? Ford offers its venerable Power Stroke diesel engine in its F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty pickups. The 6.7-liter V8 turbodiesel Power Stroke is offered in Standard and High Outputs: 475 hp/1,050 lb-ft of torque and 500 hp/1,200 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. All Super Dutys come standard with gasoline engines. The High Output tacks on $12,995—but the monstrous numbers just might be worth the premium.
2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD/2025 GMC Sierra HD
The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD and 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD get the stout L5P Duramax diesel option mated to a ten-speed Allison transmission. The 6.6-liter V8 turbodiesel Duramax makes 470 hp at 2,800 rpm and 975 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. It’s the lowest torque output of the heavy-duty diesel trucks, but its real-world drivability is great. The Duramax upcharge is about $10,000.
2025 Ram Heavy Duty
The 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 are powered by the optional 6.7-liter I6 turbodiesel Cummins High Output (HO) mated to a new eight-speed TorqueFlite HD transmission. Along with this new transmission, the Cummins gets a healthy power bump to 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The Cummins HO is the only power output (also new this year), coming at a $12,595 premium over the standard gasoline Hemi.
2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500/2025 GMC Sierra 1500
GM is the only manufacturer still making a half-ton diesel truck. The 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 both offer a 3.0-liter I6 turbodiesel Duramax mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. This second-gen LZ0 makes 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. This diesel is standard on some trims. For other trims, the premium for the diesel chugger is about $1,500—nothing compared to the HDs.
2025 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and 2025 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL
GM’s fullsize SUVs also get the 3.0-liter I6 turbodiesel Duramax found in GM’s half-ton trucks. Power output remains 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. Across the Chevy line, the 3.0-liter diesel is generally optional (but not offered for the lowest trim, LS). Across the GMC line, it’s offered across the whole trim lineup and standard on the AT4 Ultimate at Denali Ultimate.
2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500, 3500, 3500XD, and 4500 Cargo, Crew, Passenger, and Cab Chassis vans are powered by the 2.0-liter I4 turbodiesel. The Standard Output makes 168 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the High Output makes 208 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. It’s backed by a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive variants automatically get the High Output.
